Matrixman about the dancing robots wrote:Their movements were beautifully smooth and life-like. Not to freak out anyone here, but I was emotionally moved by that performance.

I've posted about this one before, but the latest video shows how much it's been improved since the last time.

BigDog, robotic pack mule.

The way it rights itself from a slip or a push is amazing (just watch it try to walk over ice)--and it can trot, run and jump now. Very realistic quadroped movement.

Holy crap! That is simply amazing and indeed kind of spooky. It had such realistic movements it reminded me of a headless goat. Fascinating technology.

It reminded me of two satyr undercariages pushing against one another.

It's movements do seem very much goat-inspired, Tom. Especially the way it jumps. I think the skidding on the ice is where it really shows off the realism--we've all seen animals move just like that.

Just think of what these things will look like a few years down the line when they're finally developed and manufactured... It'll be a big jump forward, IMO, once that sort of tech starts to drift down from the military into commercial use.
