Life on earth
This - in the immortal words of Monthy Python - makes you feel a sort of insignificant. Please look at the baby blue bar representing the window of life on earth. Keep in mind that the time scale is logaritmic.

I see no reference to Noah's Ark and a flood that wiped out all life.
You'd think that would have gotten a footnote or something.
Now we've found traces of methane on another planet in another solar system.
THAT MUST HAVE BEEN ONE HELL OF A FLOOD TO REACH THAT PLANET TOO!!
Hey, I love and hate stuff like this!
I want to be important!!!
Not some highly evolved bacteria that got lucky enough to live on a water moistened speck of rock orbiting a star that just happens to be not too close and not too far away.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. But we've got to face it: we are but farts by the river of oblivion.HLT wrote:Hey, I love and hate stuff like this!

Not even farts, really. More like leptons. Or nano-leptons. Or midget children of nano-leptons caught in a giant matrix of star clusters and galaxies. And what is it doing? Is it helping us? No, expanding to nothing. WE LOSE. Evolution = epic fail.Prebe wrote:Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. Im more than nano-lepton, I know I am, at least, I think I must be.
Enough of that, I must keep as cool as I can.
And keep on thinking free.
I also like, usually comics or cartoon animation does this well, starting with a close up of an atom with several electrons flying around and then pulling back more to a sun with several planets flying around and then pulling back more to a galaxy with stars flying around and then pulling back more to galaxy clusters with galaxies flying around and then pulling back more to.......and atom with electrons flying around.
It's like a grand circle of existence.

Meh, I know I am important. And anyone who thinks differently can bite my left butt cheek.

Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....
