I've just posted about ERB on another section of the forum, the first book I read by him was Pirates of Venus, like you, I'm not bang into Tarzan (although I have all the books, I've only read the first 5 or so).Mr. Broken wrote:Tarzan was Burroughs claim to fame , but I always preferred the Mars stories. But, Venus, Mars, Pellucidar, Caprona/Caspak etc, I love all those series, I have read them so many times. Who cares if the Earth is not hollow or if Mars and Venus cannot support life...in ERB's universe, they can.
BTW, I've just bought a novel by S M Stirling (the sky people) that involves a lush, thriving Venus that will be familliar to ERB fans, and the sequal will involve a Mars that we are also familliar with (in the courts of the crimson kings). I suggest you check out the reviews on amazon if you are not aware of this new series, I haven't gotten around to reading my copy of the first novel yet, but it sounds interesting IMO.
