Does anyone else watch this show on the sci fi channel?
We began watching it about a year or so ago. I find it fascinating. It's not like those other "scary places" shows, where all you see is people jumping and yellin "what was that??" and you do see or hear anything. Ghost Hunters takes a scientific approach to their investigations, and you see the evidence or lack of evidence. Alot of times, they debunk the activity, but other times...
WOW!!! They have captured some incredible evidence. Thermal images, EVP's, digital pics.
Anyway, those interested in this type of thing, I urge you to check out the show. It's on every wednesday night from about 7pm to 10pm. They show encore episodes from previous seasons before the new ones at 9pm.

Ghost Hunters
And I believe in you
altho you never asked me too
I will remember you
and what life put you thru.
~fly fly little wing, fly where only angels sing~
~this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you~
...for then I could fly away and be at rest. Sweet rest, Mom. We all love and miss you.

My wife's really into it, even going to an appearance they had at one of the lecture halls at Guilford College.
Me... while I can appreciate their approach, it's a matter of relativity. At least they try to be scientific about it. They do try to test reproducibility and look for alternate explanations. The problem for me is that they start out with way too many assumptions - that ghosts actually exist being the largest one (all other assumptions being a subset of this one - what kind there are, what ghosts actually are, etc.). There's not a single skeptic on the show. So all of their 'findings' are kind of... self-selecting.

"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”
