Speaking of names...When we named our kids...we decided to NOT use ANY names that were used in EITHER family.

Although, the last one we broke, and named his middle name after me.

I was well into adulthood before I realized I had been spelling my middle name wrong for most of my life.

Well, yeah, me too. But a most of those would probably get me banned from the watch for talking about.....

And Chrys, I've got a friend like that. Every once in a while some one uses their real name, and it takes every one a while to figure out who they're talking about.

 There's probably more than 2 who call me by my given name - parents and people I know through work - but nobody who knows me socially does, and I'm pretty sure at least 50% of them don't know my given name at all. Which is fun. Though sometimes I wish that it was people I know through work who didn't know my name!

I have a long first name, and everyone I meet shortens it--without consulting me. I guess I'm used to it now. So I answer to my given name, the nickname everyone wants to call me, my preferred nickname, and even Lyr. ;)

In the real world I answer to daddy and Paul, funny thing is that Ashley even calls me daddy unless she is being serious about something.

I despise my real name - mainly, I think, because when I was growing up no one used it unless they were angry. I use it at work because it's easy, though my boss calls me by my first initial. Most of my friends are Watchers, and I generally answer my phone as Sorus when one of them calls. I've been using it long enough that it seems natural. Don't think it'd catch on at work though.

Yeah...I was only ever called Pamela when in trouble.
And if I ever heard Pamela Frances...I seriously thought of running away...

I rarely get called by my first name, which is Jeremy. Most people just shorten it to Jer, which is fine. But in recent years, like SBG mentioned, I get daddy a lot, from both my son and wife. The funny thing is, she frequently calls me daddy now, even when the little one isn't around.

I don't dislike my name (Michelle), but it has never felt like me. I haven't yet found a nickname that felt right, but one semester I sat next to another Michelle. I was called Elli or Misha and both feel okay (but still not me).
