Lindens jump into the bonfire

Im not sure if this has been discussed before but Im curious...

At the end of The One Tree, Linden is sent back to the real world for an instant. She (in her physical body) then realizes that TC MUST be in his body for him to be saved. She jumps into the bonfire to get his attention and get him to send a string of power for her to hold onto and get back.

At the end of WGW.. why doesnt she show up, back in the real world, with at least some burns from being in the bonfire? For that matter she should have been burned up and died.

I am close to re listening to The One Tree, but i remember the scene. i think she was going to throw herself into the bonfire and she yelled for TC to turn and look at her so he would pull her back... i dont remember if it said anything like she felt the heat of the fire before she got pulled back but until i relisten i have to think that she dropped like a sack of rocks before she hit the fire the instant he pulled her back,or momentum maybe carried her all the way through the fire and when she fell she landed outside the fire, maybe the souls of her shoes melted a bit but .... thats my answer for now.

What an amazing coincidence between this post and my new post about almost the same thing! But not quite.

Yes, Linden felt the flames. "For one splintered instant, those yellow flames leaped at her flesh. Harbingers of searing shot along her nerves."

But was she burned?

I guess that depends on how long a "splintered instant" is.

Good point, just what is a "splintered instant" anyway? Is it longer than a fractured proton?

Given the short time this all took beside the One Tree and the ratio of timeflow between the Land and the real world, I would say it was practically instantaneous.

Well, when she finally wakes up she is back on the slab of rock -- although there is only the faintest of clues which hints at this. But there's nothing that mentions her not lying on the rock, or laying near the fire. If she threw herself into the fire, it seems she got up and laid back down on the rock again.

Either this is a [forgiveable] author oversight. Or her apparent return to "reality" wasn't totally real.

When she wakes up at the end of WGW the bonfire is just ashes and it seems to imply that she is still laying the same way she was before...right next to TC... but this does appear to be an oversight of the author.

I also wondered if perhaps she was in her 'Land' body when she jumped into the bonfire...since as Wayfriend pointed out earlier (or was that in the other thread) that this is the first time someone has been in both worlds simultaneously. She does mention when she gets back that she still 'felt' the reminders of the flames on her skin when she gets back to the land.. which means she did jump into the fire.
