A number of my paperback TCTC books fell apart during the first reading. Very annoying. I still have those original copies, though.

Re: JD
Yeah same here. In fact, every book store I've been to has had at least some of the first and second chronicles and they all had the Runes of Earth.JD wrote:I saw all six books at a Barnes and Noble recently in paperback. Also there was a special running in the Science Fiction Book Club recently.

I've seen a couple of books from each of the first two chronicles in paperback at Barnes & Noble and Hastings. You can also order them new or used on-line from these stores or Amazon.
I've always kept at least a couple of paperback copies of each book over the years because of wear and tear - and the fact that whenever I find them in good condition for sale at a used book store or garage sale, I have to pick them up.
I've always wanted to have the complete series in hardback, which I have a good start on: I found The Wounded Land at a book fair in very nice condition (dust jacket included) for $2 this last Christmas. This weekend, I found The One Tree and White Gold Wielder at a used book store for $5 each - both were in very good condition with dust covers. I also found Reave the Just in hardback, which I have not read yet!
You can also buy used hardbacks at Barnes & Noble.com, but they're not cheap! A like-new copy of White Gold Wielder was listed at almost $100

In the area I live, there's a chain of stores called Half Price Books where they have always had many copies, both HB and PB, for reasonable prices.

For those that are curious ...
Personally, I usually don't bother with paperbacks. If I ever see the need to replace a missing, or damaged, TC book - I go straight to EBAY and search for Stephen R Donaldson (not just Donaldson). Everyone once in awhile you can find one being let go -which is also signed by the Author. HB/DJ always last longer.
Just a thought !

Ebay is very good for this as well.I recently got my hands on all of the original HB copies of the first and second chrons (most in VG condition) for under65 usd.
The shipping cost were almost 50% more then the auction. Its crazy these days what it costs,to ship books that heavy from one side of the US to Canada.
I was quite happy as it came with a hard copy of the Atlas as well. One of my greatest finds on Ebay yet.
yep, 4.89 i almost Baught the whole stack i expected to pay $30-35. and asked the guy at the counter if runes was available and he said it was never released in hard back. i thought it was if only in a limited edition.Rocksister wrote:Blackhawk you got FR for $4.89 in HARDBACK????
