Thomas Covenant available on audio, with a free preview

Post by Audio Covenant »

Hey everybody, new member and lifelong Covenant fan Scott Brick here. I just wanted to update anyone who's interested in the audiobook versions of the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant that they're finally here. I’m posting this in as many places here on Kevin’s Watch as I can think of, so if you’ve already read this, my apologies.

If you go to scottbrickpresents.com you can download FATAL REVENANT and LORD FOUL'S BANE as of May 1st. (They'll also be available at audible, itunes, amazon, netlibrary and overdrive shortly thereafter.) The plan is to then start filling in all the other installments about every six months or so, so we'll be completely done by the time the latest in the Last Chronicles comes out.

As of right now, the first chapter of LORD FOUL’S BANE is available as a free preview:

Anybody got any questions, I hope you'll get in touch. This has been a lifelong dream come true. Hope you enjoy them.

Best,

Scott Brick
Are you a storyteller, Thomas Covenant?

I was, once.

And you gave it up? Ah, that is as sad a tale in three words as any you might have told me. But a life without a tale is like a sea without salt. How do you live?

I live.

Another? In two words, a story sadder than the first. Say no more -- with one word you will make me weep.

It's up. Sorry it took so long, but our download partners had a few wrinkles we hadn't expected, took a little extra work for both of our pages to mesh. LORD FOUL'S BANE went live in the late afternoon and we're all set to go now. They're uploading FATAL REVENANT as I type this, so hopefully that should be up within the next 24 hours.

Sorry to keep everyone waiting.

Best,

Scott Brick

Thanks, Scott. I was on your website early this am (late night after seeing Iron Man ;)) and I didn't see anything about LFB's availability. I'll look again tonight from home.

The main page might not have been updated: if you don't see a BUY LORD FOUL'S BANE icon on it, click on the left for the blog page. That has a new Covenant blog posted, and all sorts of purchasing options.

OK, I got it, downloaded it last Friday, and have listened to about half. I am at the part right now where Covenant is talknig with Mhoram in his quarters before he addresses the Lords Council.

Scott's reading, inflection and tone are just awesome! I have picked up things I missed, even after 7 reads.. foreshadowing SRD did, etc. I also love hearing the pronunciations of the names and places. Some I had right, others, I did not.

I highly reccomend getting this Audio book, I am very much enjoying it!!!

thanks Scott.

Has anyone posted this yet? From SRD's website:

"Covenant" unabridged audio from Scott Brick: UK rights

Scott Brick has now obtained the UK rights for his unabridged readings of "Lord Foul's Bane," "The Illearth War," and "The Power that Preserves." This issue has been a sore point in the past: now one significant stumbling block as been removed. This does not mean that Brick can sell CDs of his reading. Those stumbling blocks--whatever they may be--remain. But at least now people in, say, England, New Zealand, and Australia can buy Brick's readings legally.

Yeah, I saw it. I don't know what SRD means when he says people can buy Brick's readings legally, but Brick can't sell them. I'm sure it makes sense to lawyers.

Meanwhile, I'm hoping for a free preview of TIW.

According to Scott's website:
Oh, sorry, one last nugget of knowledge: at the risk of making this post as long as the manuscript of my first novel, I thought some of you might be interested to know that we’ve been granted permission to release the Covenant novels throughout the world. So for all you folks in the UK who’ve been frustrated by our contractual limitations, those will be a thing of the past in the very near future!

LFB by Scott Brick - simply awesome

Post by lakespringer »

Just gotta agree with iQuestor and the rest -- Scott Brick's reading of LFB was simply amazing. I truly looked forward to my hour total commuting time.

I too had read 6 times before over 20 years, but so much subtlety was brought forth in Scott's voice that it all felt familiar but new. Perhaps like watching a play you'd skimmed in the past - you knew what was coming, but the story immersion was greater and deeper.

Starting with TIW this week.

Also gotta say, I liked reviewing what I'd just heard in the Group Readings here on the Watch.

Downloaded my favourite "the illearth War" and enjoyed the audio so much i snapped up all the others. Heartily recommend this to anyone, great for the commute or as in my case a different experience to reading the novels.
loved it, cant wait for the 2nd chronicles
