I learned that the man who invented the flush toilet had the last name Crapper. That's where the word crap comes from. For a time, toilets were known as Crappers, in honor of him.

...you have got to somehow come to Denver, missy. Your presence will lighten up the campsite, and everywhere else...

I'd like to hear that long story if you had time :)
Seriously? Okay... Well, it's not *that* long a story, I guess. And I might have already told it here -- if so, y'all who remember it, just move along...

When I was a kid, my parents and I used to take a long-distance driving vacation every summer (which is how I racked up visits to most of the states in the US of A). I was all excited when Dad decided we'd do the top of the country, including the state of Washington. I wanted to see the monorail and the Space Needle in Seattle, which were both pretty new at that time. Plus I had a moderate crush on Bobby Sherman from "Here Come the Brides", a TV show which was supposedly about Seattle's early days.

Anyway, Dad was not a city kind of guy. We approached Seattle -- there's the Space Needle in the distance! -- and kept on driving. Detoured around the whole city. (Come to think of it, we might have actually driven through Olympic National Park on that trip. I was too disappointed about missing Seattle to notice the scenery...)

Anyway. After he did the same thing to me in LA, I started a list of places I was going to go back to and actually *visit*, dammit. I think I've pretty much seen them all now....
 I can certainly see why you wanted to go back and explore! I probably would have wanted to do the same thing!
So how long is that list now or have you managed to see all?
(sorry for the delayed reply-have been away)

No problem. RL happens. ;)

Let's see, the original list: Washington DC (where I now work), Seattle, LA, Chicago, NYC. Yup, all done. :)

I've still got two states (Alaska & Hawaii) and a couple of countries (Ireland and the Czech Republic) on the New & Improved list. After that, I guess I'll have to make a new list....
