What a weekend of PvP will get you:
Image

Boots and shoulders (cheapest level 60 items available). The full set--nevermind the Epic set--would take weeks.

Love those shoulders. It does take a long time, but it's worth it. Do the daily, a few rounds in whatever BG is having a holiday weekend, it adds up pretty fast.

I'm a bit disappointed at being at the bottom of the PvP bracket now, as I was really starting to get the hang of it (especially in Warsong Gulch, where I was beginning to work out my role: as a healer to the flag carrier. I was keeping the carrier alive (for the most part) in the match we won, where we went from 2-0 down to victory).
I saw a very simple suggestin made on wow forums about PvP brackets: why not stagger them, so that one battleground does, say, 50-59 and another 55-64? People who are currently at the low end of the bracket would find themselves in the upper half for at least one batteground. It's too bad Blizzard don't do anything like this to make pvp viable at levels x0-x5.

Edit: I have to run Stratholme to collect Holy Water for my Epic Mount quest. It's BoP, so it's the only item on this part of the quest I can't buy or gather alone.

Edit2: And apparently I'm one step away from being given Order Must Be Restored, heh.

Edit3: There is a player, named Grynn. He is, apparently, a Blacksmith. He makes Imperial Plate Bracers. And he deliberately underbids me by 1g whenever I place a few pairs of Bracers on the AH, forcing me to lower my selling price--which he then underbids further. Bastard.
Edit3a: Okay, I got sick of it; I bought every pair of bracers he had listed and put them up at a higher price.

That is an excellent idea for battlegrounds. A ten-level difference is rather absurd. You don't even get honor if you kill a player ten levels below you.

Stratholme, meh. I thought it was 'just' Dire Maul and Scholo. All of those are just a tad too high for me to solo. I can easily do it with another 70 - did it a couple of times with another hunter, but I have not seen her on recently. Difficult to get groups for any of those dungeons these days, because if you can run a level-60 dungeon, you're going to run Hellfire Ramparts. Ironically, I *can't* run HR; it is murder on my frame rate. We're probably going to have to go on LFG and hope for the best - there must be other Paladins in the same boat. Hmm... my warrior friend might be willing to help. Especially if I invite one of his alts on a ZF party. It'll work out somehow.

The good thing about the holy water is that you don't need to kill any bosses, just open crates until you get some. If you run out of crates before the boss, head back out and reset the instance. Soloing would be very tough, but two or three of you should be able to run it to get water. We used to do that pre-expansion to get holy water to use in the Nefarion fight in Blackwing Lair.

With PvP, in the days before cross-realm PvP faction imbalance was a real issue, with many realms not having enough horde or alliance. I suspect the 10-level BG brackets are to maximise the number of people they could squeeze together. Having smaller brackets would benefit people who want to PvP while levelling, but pre-60 PvP is now dominated by twinkers and that would really muddy the waters for level 19, 29, and 39 twinks.

Stormblaze helped me in Strath the other day. I don't know if it's just because I'm a dwarf (Find Treasure didn't display them on the minimap), but there were two visibly different kinds of boxes--plain brown ones which, when opened, released rats, bugs, or poison; and ones which looked the same but sparkled, in the way a lot of treasure and quest items tend to, which contained potions, food, odd bits and bobs, and one or two bottles of Holy Water each. It took three boxes to get what I needed.
We tried to reset the instance afer clearing the first area, but found the gates were locked, so we had to fight through the next section to find the last box.

If Kaelen is willing to help, the three of us should be able to accomplish the next steps fairly easily. When is he usually on? Have not seen him on during the weekend.

The two of us might be able to do it alone, but it'd be risky. That first big room in Scholo is tricky - lot of groups close together and some of the mobs use fear, which can aggro the entire room if you're not careful. Line of sight pulls; most of them are casters. I don't mind fighting casters; if I have aggro on something I would rather it stayed at range, and I can resist most of what they throw at me anyway. And then there's the actual quest, which summons a ton of mobs. All of which are fairly squishy, but it's an endurance battle where the biggest problem is running out of mana.

Dire Maul should be fairly easy; I hate the tree elementals and their knockback, but I can handle them, especially if my cat has aggro.

And none of the boxes in Strath sparkled for me.

when he was regularly on.

Oops, got his name wrong. I knew that didn't look right.

I haven't met him yet, seems like I've always missed him by a couple of hours when I sign on. Anyway, it'd be awesome if he could help, but if not we will work it out somehow.

I'm a little more worried about my warlock quest, but with 3 people currently around level 60, Creator on the fast track, and Luci not far behind we might even be able to put together an actual level-appropriate Scholo party.

I'm trying to tweak Kysen's build a bit. I re-specced to drop Improved Devotion Aura (which is, frankly, crap) and pick up something that reduces mana cost of judgements and seals (though really, most of my mana cost comes from elsewhere). Still a work in progress.
I've started playing around with an online calculator to see how I can arrange things. This is my current build. For points yet unearned, I'll probably get Combat Expertise for the Stamina bonus, and put some into Deflection, too; I'm likely to drop Guardian's Favour (Blessing of Protection isn't great) at some point, so I'll have a couple more to spend.
Eye for an Eye looks good, but the required points to reach it would be spent in fairly useless talents (3% reduced chance for spells to hit?).
Any suggestions welcome.

That's really weird. You fed it, right? If it was at loyalty level 1 and died without being fed you could lose it. Anyway, if you're going to try again I would recommend getting a Stranglethorn Tiger - Dash is more useful than Prowl. Actually at your level you might be able to find something that has Dash Rank 2, can't remember where I got that or at what level. I think there is a 40ish cat that has Rank 2 of both Dash and Prowl, but I can't remember what it is and I can't look it up from here. Something 'patriarch', one of the cheetah-type cats. Should be 40ish, I remember I was questing in Desolace when I was using it as a trainer pet, and I know I didn't get it there.

As to Paladin spec advice, I have very little to offer. Actually nothing. Sorry. Not a class I have any experience with. I will try to remember some names you can look up in the Armory for ideas... Guy in my old guild named Ranmado was an excellent tank, and I doubt he has respecced. Hmm... Vonlagin if you want to see a good healing spec, though I don't think that's what you're after. Drawing a blank right now, though I do know more Paladins than that. :P

It's great fun in PvP - a prowling cat is basically invisible to players of the opposite faction, which makes for a nasty surprise when it jumps out and chomps someone.

As for questing/farming, the damage bonus really isn't a good enough payoff for the speed decrease.

On the other hand, Dash is the opposite - he will *whoosh* over to the target.

I may see him in a little while tonight. He's asked me when people are usually on. I pointed out this thread to him last week, but I don't know if he's looked at it since. In general, when he's on during evenings he usually stays on later than I do, but at times you can find him on during the day.

Looks like I've got some catching up to do.

Sorus--I looked up Ranmado, and he's heavily Holy specced--all 61 points, in fact, which is more than the healing spec Pally you named.
I've been playing around a bit more, though, and I think I know what I'm going to spec next.

Kaehln does seem helpful; chatted a tiny bit last night while I was questing. He also drops some nice high level loot in the Bank, which I've been grabbing to save for later (I've got a mace, which is almost identical to my level 61 mace, but with twice as much spell damage buff. I think it's level 67).

Weird! I am shocked that he re-specced - he devoted a ton of time to putting together tanking gear, and was tanking Kara last time I saw him. Oh well...

I will start adding shiny high-level gear to the bank now too since it'll be useful soon - normally I just DE it. 8O

I'm starting to think that the questing in Hellfire Peninsula is a little too easy. Once I was over the initial difficulty (back at level 58-59), I've had very little trouble at all. In fact... I don't think I've been killed any time except when the Reaver jumped Syl and I the other day. The Pools of Aggonar are a little tricky, but I still managed to get through to the back on my own; and I soloed all the quests in the Ruins of Sha'naar(sp?) without even breaking a sweat. It's making me want to try the dungeons, just for a challenge.
