Joan's effect on Covenant?

Post by SkurjMaster »

Greetings All,

Forgive me if this has been addressed somewhere, but my questions seem to fit in, at least a little, in this particular thread. So, TC may be a POV character if we consider the perspective to be all of time, but the story seems to revolve around Linden and her quest to find her son. My question is this. Now that TC has been resurrected, what effect has Joan's assault, unwitting though it be, had on Covenant? Doesn't the fact that Joan is able to assail time (remember the shattering of blocks of time) mean that something has happened to TC's Timewarden status before he was brought back? When Foul assaulted the arch directly, Covenant deflected the attack. How did Joan slip through, and isn't that indicative of something coming in the plot of the 3rd Chrons?

Just some thoughts.

The Watch is great.

I've certainly entertained the idea that all those ceasures, all those cracks, have affected Covenant. He is the Arch, for bad as well as good, so if the Arch is suffering he should be, too.

He may not have been able to do anything about it because either he can't trump Joan's white gold, or he can't affect people from outside the Arch, or (my choice) is that he doesn't have any power to do at all, only to see, and perhaps communicate what he sees to others who can do the doing.

Then again, it would be just like Covenant to allow Joan's rage for a higher purpose, or to help Joan in some way. Remember, he did allow Joan to scratch his hands and lap his blood - allowing her to beat on the Arch may be for some similar reason. Maybe her blows to the Arch are keeping her alive. Would not that be very sad?

Yes - remember, Joan is (or was, until Linden) his reason for existence. He stepped into the fire for her. He took the blade to the chest for her.

I can't help thinking that there is a MAJOR cat fight coming...

In the 2nd Chrons didn't TC say that now he and Joan were even, that he didn't owe her anything else, and that he wouldn't even want to take her back if he had the chance?

I don't recall that particular statement, but even if true, SHE doesn't know that. And it is just the kind of statement that can come back to haunt a person.

TC's Timewarden status

Post by SkurjMaster »

So, if TC was the protector of the Arch and he is now resurrected, how can he continue to protect it? Also, what purpose would it serve to let Joan carry out her time attacks if he could indeed stop it before he was resurrected? What does he know that LA does not?

That's the million dollar question, the one we can't answer for another 2.5 years!

2.5 more years. D***it. The world could end in that amount of time. With gas prices going up, the cost of gas expended to go to the bookstore will be more than the book. Guess I will order online and let Amazon deal with it.[/quote]
