Dangit!! Spoilers in the glossary!!

Post by deer of the dawn »

I looked in the glossary hoping to find out how to pronounce Anele (like "anneal"? Or phonetically, Ah-neh-lei?) Anwyay it referred to him as "Sunder and Hollian's son", something I had suspected but it hadn't been revealed in the text yet. Gaah!! I wanted the reading to take care of that in its own time. Guess I have to avoid the darn glossary to read the book properly!! :?

I usually write myself a note about the things I want to look up, and then look them up after I'm done with the book. If I look them up at all.

Well, for one thing, SRD's glossaries don't give info like pronunciation... (see the thread on "How do you pronounce that?")

I've learned not to read the glossary either. If there's a place or name in the text, I assume it'll be explained when it needs to be. Then after I finish the book I go look at it just for grins.

I try not to look at the glossary before i have read the book..
otherwise you get facts along with the name.

Creator: the being who made Foul suck earthroot.

or some other fact that gives an important turning point away.

Agreed! I learned this lesson the hard way. Initially I would use it to make sure I had a newly introduced character's name correct in my head but then would end up getting TMI.

I'd prefer it didn't even exist... is it even necessary?

I've always reda the glosseries throughout the books.

the odd spoiler didn't hurt that much; they're not big giveaways.

Though it said Anele was Sunder and Hoolian's son...it's not too far in the book when that information is given away.

The problem I had with Runes (andFr's) glossery..is they are too full.

They are a combination of EVERY glossery of the Chornicles.

There are people/places/things that are completly unpertinant to the story, and in no way will come into this story line.

Things like Thomas Covenant's mount (Durra Fairflanks) during the QUest for the SOL in LFB..I highly doubt if this horse will make a reappearance ANYWHERE In the 3rd Chrons.

a bottle in the cellar
