I've seen many of these examples. There is a lot of evidence here to suggest that Superman is indeed a Dick. Much of this is quite disturbing. Quite disturbing indeed.
"If you can't tell the difference, what difference does it make?"
In some instances I can understand why Supes would act the way he does. Day in and day out, the woman he loves spurns his alter ego. His best friend in the superhero community has written a book on how to kill him, and left it in a place their enemies could find it. Of course, that doesn't excuse him melting every pair of glasses Ma and Pa Kent bought him, which must have been difficult on their limited wages.
Other heroes, however, don't really have any excuse. Take Spiderman, who began his career in crimefighting be letting a criminal escape so said criminal could go kill Spidey's uncl Ben. Later, Spidey's aunt Mak got sick, so he gave her some of his radiated blood, almost killing her. Then he killed his girlfriend's father, Captain Stacey. Then he killed his best friend's father, Norman Osborne. Then he killed Harry Osborn, and ex-girlfriend Liz Allen's step-brother. All this is funny when you see the extents Spidey goes to in order to prevent someone like the Punisher or Wolverine from killing some slimeball.
Then there's Daredevil, who can hear a pin fall from 13 miles away. He got his powers several years before his dad got killed by mobsters who said they'd kill him in if he didn't throw a fight. They had to have been in DD's hearing range whaen they issued their threat, but DD didn't do a damn thing but wait until dad died, and then got revenge. Then DD, in an effort to keep his best friend Foggy Nelson and girlfriend Karen Page from guessing his secret ID, made up a fictional twin brother, Mike Murdock, who he said was DD. Later on, when he got tired of carrying on the Mike Murdock charade, DD 'killed' his twin off, and let his grieve, never telling either one the truth, until he confronted Keren with it at Mike's grave site. Then he broke up with Karen. He moved to California, started dating the Black Widow. I can't remember exactly why those two broke up, but I'm sure DD was a dick through the process. Later on DD moved back to Hell's Kitchen and started dating Heather Glenn, the daughter of the owner/CEO of Glenn Industries. Well, naturally, Daddy Glenn got used as a pawnby an enemy of DD's, so he got killed, leaving Heather in charge of GI. But DD didn't like Heather in a position of strength, especially as he had just topld her he was DD and proposed to her. So he, as Matt Murdock, filed an injuction against GI, implying her father was a criminal and she was aware of it, so she'd lose her company and have to marry him in order to pay bills and stuff. She became an alcoholic, naturally. Later the Black Widow and Foggy intervened, by writing 'Dear John' letters to each of them from the other, leaving Heather with no job and no rich (albeit a-hole) boyfriend. Then DD started working with the Kingpin. He made deals with Kingpin, and even fought Spiderman to protect Kingpin at one point. He calmed down after that, but when an enemy managed to clone him, he killed the clone ant let the world think DD had died (again). He then broke into a polymer factory, made himself a different suit, and pretended to be DD's replacement. On top of all this, he, as DD, has routinely tampered with cases that he, as Attorney Matt Murdock, defended in court.

Blow away dandelion
I'm afraid there's no denying
I'm just a dandelion
a fate I don't deserve.

Do you imagine he was listening in on every conversation his father had within his hearing range?

Maybe that's why. Maybe his father's death taught him that he needed to keep tabs as much as he could on everything anyone important to him did or said, so he could prevent such things from happening again. Maybe it hadn't occurred to him to do that to such a degree as a kid. I'm sure he was listening in on the hot girls' conversations, but not his boring father.
