It actually seems that we get kinkier as the years go by, we do stuff (and own stuff) now that was taboo earlier in our 9 years of marriage. High five!

I am a virgin, but i'm not to concerned with that because i'm still in high school and have plenty of time

What i do need though is some advice on relationships in general. I heard the phrase that girls like guys that are jerks, and i was skeptical. I tried it on this one girl and she seemed to like me more and more as time went on. One problem though I started to really like her, so I couldn't stand being so mean to her. In the week after I realized that I started being nice to her. By the end of the week she wanted nothing to do with me.

Now I really like her, and need some advice on what to do. I'm willing to try anything as long as I don't have to be a jerk again.

Secondly...the best advice I can give you is to just be yourself. Never pretend to be something you're not.

I have found that girls/women who are drawn to "jerks" have their own journey of self-discovery and growth to yet go through. It seems they are putting off dealing with their own issues, while they make excuses for the ill behavior of the "jerk." Once they have self awareness and love, it is seldom they are accepting of such behavior from those in their life.

It sounds like your interest has yet to make that journey. If you like her, try being her friend. Easier said than done, I know.

1st - What Urbane said. Yes, it's the moral payload of every ABC Afterschool special, but it's remarkably correct and important.

2nd - What Menolly said. Who really wants to be with a girl who basically wants to be abused because she doesn't see her self worth.

Howdy White Gold Ark, and welcome!

Some good advice here already (esp. the guitar part...

).

The "chicks dig jerks" thing: Sure, there's some truth to that, but usually (as Menolly pointed out) it says more about the girl who's interested in those guys. I think though, that there is something to be taken from it. I think that women tend to like guys that are confident (or maybe it's more the reverse - they're turned off by guys that are obviously desperate) and I think that for a lot of guys, being a "jerk" is the easiest way to appear confident. But there's really quite a difference between "confidence" and "jerk".

Be confident that you have something to offer (without being a jerk), and eventually other people will come to agree with you.

Being her friend generally won't bring him any closer. When a girl puts a guy into the "friend" category, it's real hard for that "friend" to get out of that box she put him in. Easier to try again with another girl. Or get away from this girl for awhile, then try again. But be confident about it.

WGA has told us he is still in high school. Becoming this girl's friend, and leaving for college one day, may still lead to the desired results.

Of course, it won't fit into any desire for instant gratification.

Wow, thanks for the advice.

It is summer vacation and the idea of getting away from her is intriguing. First of all, do you think that the summer is long enough? Second I'm taking a lot of Advanced Placement courses, and so is she, which means we are pretty much guaranteed to be in a lot of each others classes, but I'm not sure what to do when I see her. What do u guys think i should do when i see her in the fall, if i don't see her all summer

Any other advice, that doesn't deal with this idea or any others discussed would still be greatly appreciated.

The summer could be long enough. The key is how you look when you come back in the fall and see her again.

If you're going to see a lot of her in those courses, I would suggest you stop paying attention to her. Hang out with your friends and let her see you having fun without her. See how she reacts and go from there. No guarantees, you might still have to move on.

Re; Chicks Digging Jerks.

Firstly, this is my official dissclaimer, that what I am about to speak may not reflect the attitudes of other Watch members, or the Watch itself.

Women, well, lets go with Females, especially Mammal females, are attracted to the Alpha male.
This is instinct in order for procreation to take place, and to hopefully produce offspring sired by the strongest male; thus improving the chances of stronger offspring.

Humans don't really have antlers or fangs to fight with; and we also don't really have anual mating seasons; even the human female's monthly fertile times are varied from woman to woman. Therefore, the human male (as I'm sure we ALL are aware) is ready to procreate at ANY time of the Year/month/week/day. (Except possibly during playoffs)

So female humans, have to pick the Alpha male for themselves; and that's goig to be the stronger man.
So why jerks?
Well, jerks like to make themselves look like something special. They are egotistical, full of themsleves, and like to let it known, that (as far as they are concerned) they ARE the man...or rather, they are the Alpha Male.

The same thing goes to Rock Stars, and Movie stars, and other men of power.
They are desired by female humans, because the emit greatness...a trait women instrictivly want to pass along to their offspring.

In conclusion; its power/strength that women are subconciously attracted to; and Jerks wear a guise of power/strength.

HUMAN MALES, on the other hand; aren't instictively attracted to powerfull/strong females to better improve their offsprings chances of living; rather they are drawn just to a womb. ANY womb, pretty much.

A male, who is --On the Prowl-- would be less likely to try to obtain a woman of power, as she would be less attainable; rather he'd be happy enough to pick up a single welfare mom at a bar, because chances are: she'll put out.

Now obviously, human mating insticts have evolved over the years from Females looking for the alpha-male, males looking for a womb...becuase they've included lust and love into the equation.

Again, this was all just my own opinion.
