Kevin.
Are you kidding me?
Some of the coolest names in literature can be found in these books and what do we get for the most powerful guy that ever lived?
My paperboy.
Okay, given, Landwaster is pretty cool but I think it's safe to say he didn't run with this moniker while holding council meetings.
Lord Biff - " Uh, Kev, about yer last name just wondering what your plans were for the weekend?"
Lord Buffy - " yeah, like, what's up with that? like totally, so negative! Like Kevvy, you gonna be at the mall Fritag?"
Um, I'm thinking Kevin may not be as momentous as say, oh I dunno, Chael? Relis? Eadan? Dork?
Just supposin....

I always liked the name Kevin, and assumed that it was chosen purposefully by the author. To me, the point of an 'ordinary' name like Kevin is that capital-D 'Despair' can happen to anyone, not just fancifully named beings of legend. It wasn't High Lord Mordryck Landwaster - it was Kevin.

I agree with Dukkha; the name is a "real" name, not a fantasy-type name. Maybe that humanized him in some way and made what he did even more monumental. I don't know; maybe someone can ask SRD why he chose it. Maybe his paperboy is named Kevin, too.

Heard my ears aright? Did not the gaddhi grant me this glaive?

I like Kevin. Besides, Lena and Elena are normal names too.

Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

Funny, Drew. He's never asked why you call him that? This is one of those, "if you have to ask, don't" things. He'd probably look at you like you have three heads, like people look at me when I talk to them about TCoTC. I can't get anyone to even think about reading them. I am a freak.
