[ooc]If it is my turn next, I will approach as close as my move allows, and attack with mace if I am in range. If not in range, I will take a closer look at Xavier to assess his state.[/ooc]

Caamora, are you moving towards the plant? You are currently 150ft from it, and if you want to attack it with your fists you'll need to approach.
--
It's Roark's turn after caamora, I guess I'll take charge of him for this fight.
Roark runs towards the plant! (80 ft directly at it, meaning there is another 70ft to go).
--
It's Charn's turn next, he said he'd move towards it. Charn moves 60ft towards the plant, leaving a 90ft gap between him and the plant. He gets a better view of the body and it is indeed Xavier. Can't see any better than that from here.
--
Irian's turn next. She said she wanted to cast mage armour. That's fine, mage armour is cast. Irian still has a move action remaining. You can move 30ft, load a crossbow, or do anything else requiring a move action.
[could everyone please have a quick skim of the combat rules on the d20srd website, if you haven't already got a working knowledge]

Irian moves 30ft towards the plant.

The plant doesn't seem to do anything.

Vargon's turn.
[as you can now see, the initiative order is this:
Vargon
caamora
Roark
Xavier
Charn
Irian
The plant
That's the order in which everyone will act until the fight is over. It was calculated by rolling dice and adding your initiative modifiers. This order will be different for every fight]

Roark charges towards the plant with a scream of rage (charging, enters barbarian rage), swings his two-handed greatsword overhead with his massive strength (attack roll 17) and cuts a huge branch off of the plant! He does (2d6 +9) 17 damage to the plant.
The plants thrashes around a bit and looks badly hurt.
While this is happening Caamora runs over to Xavier and crouches beside him ready to drag him away while Roark is distracting the plant.

Not wishing to be left behind, Irian also moves directly towards the plant. Stopping 90 feet away, she draws her cross bow and prepares to notch it.
She feels conflicted, as her love of nature and Ehlenestra war with her need to be cautious...

The plant whips a vine towards Roark and hits him with quite a bit of force. It does him 8 damage (1d6 + 7) and attempts to wrap around his body and grapple him.
[opposed grapple check
Plant: 12+9 = 21
Roark 5+6=11]
Roark is grappled by the plant.
caamora gets an attack of opportunity on the plant when it grapples Roark and moves into his space.
[attack roll 20+2 = critical threat
confirm critical 17+2 = 19 = confirmed.
damage = (2d6+4) 13]
caamora's fist slams into a particularly vulnerable area of stem and the plant buckles. It doesn't let go of Roark, though it does start wobbling and rustling. It looks like it's in a very bad way!
Suddenly the other plants surrounding the moving plant in a 30ft radius seem to spring into motion. They twist and turn and try to entangle anyone in their reach.
Caamora attempts a reflex save (2+6 =8, not good enough), is tangled up by the plants and can no longer move. (Grasses, weeds, bushes, and even trees wrap, twist, and entwine about creatures in the area or those that enter the area, holding them fast and causing them to become entangled. The creature can break free and move half its normal speed by using a full-round action to make a DC 20 Strength check or a DC 20 Escape Artist check. A creature that succeeds on a Reflex save is not entangled but can still move at only half speed through the area. Each round on your turn, the plants once again attempt to entangle all creatures that have avoided or escaped entanglement.)

OK, in the interest of moving the game along, I'll take caamora's turn for her:
caamora uses flurry of blows to punch at the plant, her hands blur as she strikes at its stem!
[there is a -2 penalty for making attacks while entangled]
Unfortunately, both strikes narrowly miss their target.
--
Roark attempts to break out of the grapple, he fights and struggles but the plant's vines maintain their hold on him.
Roark manages to drag himself and the plant 15ft towards Brother Charn.
15ft away from him now.
