What one thing should TC have taken to the Land with him?

After re reading this thread I've come to the conclusion that there are few singular things that Covenant might have brought along with him to the Land that would have made much difference. The fact is, since he spent most of the First Chrons believing he was freaking out/dreaming he would never alter his behavior to include making certain that he kept a 9mm semi automatic pistol, 3 packs of gum, bandaids, trial size aftershave, a flack vest and a pair of palm sized walkie talkies on his person at all times. (I'm sure I would but that's me) Imagine the fun he'd have had playing gin rummy with Foamfollower if he'd just made a point of putting a deck of cards in his pocket.
I still say TC could have used his folded up phone bill as a weapon of some kind. Would have caused a nasty paper cut if used properly. Why he chose to keep it in his pocket the whole time I'll never know. Come to think of it, if TC was walking to pay his phone bill he had to have had his wallet on him. If he's a big shot, best selling author he had to have had some plastic on him. A few photos. $68 in cash and a pocket full of quarters. Surely these objects would have been beneficial in some way if TC had only thought to employ them.
Missed opportunity.

Didn't go through all six pages of replies, so sorry if this repeats, but how about an illustrated book on engineering or something like "The Way Things Work."
It would be interesting to see if any of our world's technology/physical laws would translate to workable devices in the Land. You'd have to assume at least some would, given the use of arrows, gravity, and whatnot. Perhaps if nothing else it might inspire the lore keepers to make some kind of hybrid "Land-punk" tech.

You should never go anywhere without a towel. If the book was set in the present day I've no doubt he's have taken an MP3 player with him (not an ipod, coz they're rubbish). If he'd used it right it'd helped the land a lot more... I can just imagine him pumping up the Eoward with 'Eye of the Tiger'.. Then they would've kicked ass!

Well, AjK, the question itself is all conjecture, since he didn't KNOW he was going there in the first place and therefore would not have chosen the "one thing" anyway, so all answers are valid here, right? But thinking about it more, I realize even if he had it with him, it's doubtful he'd take time to use it. Oh, well, it was a knee-jerk answer. But if he'd taken it and used it, we'd have lost several books, eh?
Heard my ears aright? Did not the gaddhi grant me this glaive?

Well the original point of this thread was directed at all subsequent translations after the events of LFB. Under those conditions, provided TC could be made to give a rip enough to act in case he returned to his dream, he might have decided, after returning from the Land the first time, that in addition to his penknife he'd begin keeping a trans dimensional cell phone in his pocket at all times.

Of course, Rocksister. I was completely joking as opposed to criticizing your post. My sincere apologies if you took it any other way!Rocksister wrote:Well, AjK, the question itself is all conjecture ... so all answers are valid here, right?
That would be unacceptable.Rocksister wrote:But if he'd taken it and used it, we'd have lost several books, eh?
