I was also very curious about the Native American museum... since, for obvious reasons, we don't have that many of those in Europe :P

The holocaust museum is horrifying but interesting as well.

Um, I think the ones they have here in Germany might be even more horrifying...

More than likely, you're right, Xar.

Air & Space gets a big thumbs-up from everybody who goes there. Natural History has the Hope diamond and a whole lot of other stuff. American History has a bunch of pop-culture-type stuff, along with the original Star-Spangled Banner (the one that inspired our national anthem) and the First Ladies' dresses and whatnot.

Some folks have been disappointed with the American Indian Museum. It's not your typical museum -- it has more exhibits on living culture, and not as many artifacts, as you might expect. But I like it.

Not sure whether you're into art, but the National Gallery of Art is also on the Mall near the Smithsonian. And then there are the war memorials. And the Kennedy Center has a free concert every day at 6pm.

Can't wait to meet you, btw. :) I'm sure we can gather the DC gang for a lunch or dinner, at least, while you're in town.

I'm a big fan of the Corcoran Gallery, but its not run by Smithsonian, so you have to pay to get in. I think it runs about $9 a person...but I could be wrong...Hope I get to meet you!

Allright, hotels are booked now... I'll be in Washington DC from Nov 13 to Nov 20 (though most of the time I'll be busy with the conference), then I'll be in New York from Nov 20 to Nov 24, and then I'll be back in Washington DC from Nov 24 to Nov 28, after which I'll come back to Germany. Hope I can get to meet most of you from both towns :)

I don't have the full program of the conference yet, but it should arrive in two or three weeks, and then I can tell you if and when I have time during that first week, or if instead I won't be able to do anything until Nov 24... sorry :(

If I can swing this at all, it would probably be the three weekdays in DC prior to Thanksgiving (ugh, flying home the day before Thanksgiving...not my idea of fun, nor very hopeful of finding a discounted fare). The challenge for me will be finding an inexpensive motel, which won't eat up funds in transportation costs into the city. I've found a couple out by Dulles, but I understand the cost of getting to the city from there makes staying in the city justifiable...

Um, so, have we gotten any farther with planning a DC get-together next month?

Wow. Who knew silence could be so deafening....

Trust me, ali.
The Pantheon-playing Watchers know all about silence from Xar being deafening... ;)

This has certainly been the year for Elohimfests, hasn't it? :D We will all expect pictures in the album. :)

Why yes, yes it has! And of course there will be pictures from DC, assuming we all get together somewhere for something at some point. (Hmm, was that vague enough?)

Menolly, I was sorta-kinda aiming my comment at the other DC Watchers. ;) I suppose I should post something in the SRD forum, tho -- see if anybody around here is paying attention....
