Well the day didn't start off so great. Slept through my alarm. Was late to work. Feeling groggy. BUT then got to work and talked to my customer Emily. She's a nice girl in her early twenties and last week I had to give her the bad news that her beater acura integra had a blown headgasket and that it was the end of it's lifespan. Had the body been in good shape I might have let her throw an engine at it but it wasnt. The interior was pretty trashed too. Anyway, she needed some counseling and I asked her how often she had more than one other person in the car with her and did she need a lot of trunk space for hauling. She said she hardly ever had more than one other person with her and really didn't do much hauling so I said, "Why not get a miata?" and she got all excited so then I went browsing on the internet for local used miatas and found her a perfect one. It's red, automatic and a convertible. Now I feel all goofy happy. She's gonna be so excited when she gets my message.

I'm all weirded out now. I was standing in the shop waiting for Igor and I looked back at the shop door and some guy was standing there taking a picture of me and so I walked towards the door but by the time I got to the sidewalk he was gone. I'm quite freaked out. How weird. I keep trying to tell myself he was taking a picture of the inside of the shop but he was aimed directly at me. I don't think I've ever seen the guy before. Weird Weird WEIRD. :? It's very unsettling to know there is some strange guy out there with pictures of me without my consent. Ugh. Yuck. :-x

Maybe he's a photography student? Liked the composition of the way you were standing, framed by, um, something? (I'm reaching, I know...)

You are probably right Ali. CovJr is telling me the same. I still feel violated in a way. :?

its perfectly reasonable to feel violated. I would have too. but until you know differently, I would just assume he's a photography student or something, and let it go.

So, an update on the miata situation. I called the folks selling the miata and turns out that the woman who owns it is preggers so that is why they are selling and I talked to her at length and they have all the service records for it since 2000. Emily called back and I told her the info and then she started grilling me about questions to ask and things to look for when she goes to see it and I said, "Oh screw it, why don't I just go with you?" and she was like, "ARE YOU SERIOUS????" The car is about forty minutes away each direction so I told Emily she's buying lunch and we are going to see the car Sunday provided it hasn't sold by then. Talk about customer service eh? I'm giving up the better part of my Sunday afternoon to help a girl find a decent car. I'm such a sucker. However I am confident that she got ripped off when she bought the acura in the first place and she's so freaking sweet and nice that I can't let it happen to her again. I also happen to have a really good feeling about this and I think it's gonna work out good. I also told Emily that if it doesn't then I am going to give her stick driving lessons and then find her a miata with a five speed since they are a dime a dozen and the automatics are all special order. Now I am waiting for CovJr's sarcastic wimpy comments about stupid Americans.....

I cannot wake up...I've had a really rough month, but everything's about to change for the better. Tam's been having serious problems with her neck and circulation, and will have surgery on it Oct 16th. They'll go around the tracia in front and will remove the C6 vertebra and two discs fusing the bones with a titanium plate and a synthetic spacer. It's a lot less pain full than going through the back and I've heard that people who've had this proceedure done have had awesome quality of life changes. Some other heavy duty stuff went down, but I'm not going to talk about it. Just move foward with a smile> :D Elora Grace is fine and chipper and holds the family together-she's so incredibly smart and cute I can't stand it! 8)

It will get better Danlo. By the way, I just realized yesterday where your avatar came from. I got the last of my awaited Zindell books in the mail and low and behold you were on the cover!!!!

It's FRIDAY!!!!! I am ready for my weekend. AGAIN. 8O :P One of my newer customers was in this morning. Her third visit. I thought she had a slight speech impediment but today I noticed that she actually had a hearing aid on. I had no idea.

Glad to hear things are looking up, Danlo! And Jenn. . you are the nicest person. So what if Covjr makes fun of you? :P

I only had to put in a half day at work today, so I am going home to take a nap. Then I'll get ready and do some errands. Tonight my friend is taking me to a gallery where a mutual friend has work showing (it's First Friday Artwalk again). After that I am taking another friend out for drinks and chocolate fondue. It's her birthday, and she deserves to be spoiled. :D

Tomorrow I am driving to KC for a Renaissance Faire with the birthday girl, and Sunday I have my typical dinner and a movie party at my place. Busy weekend! 8O

Hope everyone has a great weekend! :D

You too, Lyr!

Danlo -- thumbs up to you and Tam and Elora!

Jenn -- you rock, girlfriend!

Happy today that I made my weight loss goal for the week so I get to start reading "Toll the Hounds". Looking at the weather forecast with some trepidation, tho -- Czech class is supposed to start tomorrow, but the weather guys are predicting a boatload of rain and wind from the hurricane. I may bail on the drive tomorrow if the weather's icky in the morning.

Aw Shucks... I'm thinking of it as taking one for team womankind. Besides, I think if you guys met this kid with her sweet nature and who looks at the world with big doe eyes and rose tinted glasses you too would have the urge to protect her and her endearing innocence.

Pretty good! I got a package I've been waiting 2 weeks for, with really pretty skirts in it!

Then I had one class this morning, American Government, where we talked a little bit about the presidential election, and all the hype about vice presidential candidates right now.

This afternoon was the poster sale, and I got a "Breakfast Club" poster.

Then I went to a workshop with the Full Tilt touring company(recently graduated college drama students), which was AWESOME, and they're performing Shakespeare's "A Comedy of Errors" tonight, so I'm going to see that!

I am exhausted. Two weeks of classes, and already I am almost behind on homework. I've already written papers, taken quizzes, and read at least 20 chapters (each chapter over 30 pages long) for various classes. Three days of the week I have over 6 hours of classes, with classes on the other two days as well. I'm averaging 4-5 hours of sleep per night (compared to 10ish during the summer), and I'm only awake right now due to copious amounts of Mountain Dew. I'm so tired I can't remember what the homework assignments are that I need to do this weekend, and I don't have the energy to read what I wrote in my assignment notebook. If it weren't for the fact that I've been away from the Watch for a week now and am curious as to what's been going on here, I'd be asleep right now.
I have to wake up early tomorrow to do errands.
I really am hoping that I adjust to my new schedule quickly so I can stop overdosing on caffeine soon. I hate drinking caffeinated beverages with the aim of consuming caffeine. I prefer to drink them for the enjoyment of the beverage.
I'm going to have a caffeine crash in about fifteen minutes. Then I'm going to bed. Good night.

Wow, are you talking about the one in Bonner Springs, KS or maybe MO? That is my favorite spot to go for a Renaissance Faire. I wonder if they still have the fairy forest. That was the coolest new addition to the place the last time I went. I need to plan a trip the first weekend in October some year so I can do that and go to KC for the spook houses - the ones that are in old buildings that have 3 story slides in the middle of. The Beast and Edge of Hell were my favorites.

I have been sick throughout the week. Probably my body affected by the stress of what I found out on Sunday coupled with enjoying cigarettes on Sunday and Monday and booze and lack of sleep and cold weather. I'm hacking up a lung constantly, and I plan to say goodbye to even the occasional cigarette cheats this weekend. I still don't know if that means I will be having one more and saying goodbye, or if I will have more. But Saturday (uhh....tonight) is it for me. I'm going to be a dad, and I will not be a smoking dad.

Feel better, Cag! And congrats on quitting smoking!

Poor Auleliel -- hopefully you got some sleep this weekend....

Skirts?? Wasn't the box *I* sent, then. Hmm... How was the Shakespeare performance?

I had a good weekend, all things considered. Drove to Baltimore for Czech class yesterday morning in the wind and rain, convinced they wouldn't have it. They did. Then drove back home in more wind and more rain. Hanna gave me a good excuse to cocoon yesterday with "Toll the Hounds". Today I made a batch of yogurt, a lasagna, and a roasted chicken. I am set for the week!

I'm very happy about the Czech class, actually. The last class I took, we had just two students, and most of the time I was the only one who showed up -- so it wasn't much fun. :( This semester, we have about a dozen students. Plus it's a different instructor, and she is apparently going to make us work -- so I might actually learn something this semester. *Plus* they've done away with the midmorning snack break, so I won't be tempted to blow my diet on tasty Czech baked goods every Saturday. So I'm glad, now, that I signed up for this class. Except that I have homework....
