Went to look at the miata today. It was pretty durn cute. Went through negotiations then come to find out it's a salvaged title. Had to walk away. Too bad though. I think Emily was a bit heartbroken but like I told her, there will be a perfect car for her. We just need to keep looking.
I was a bit sad too. It was pretty cute. It had some front end vibs so I think it needed tie rod ends as well as possibly a motor mount. Oh well, the money they wanted for the car with salvaged title was just way way way too much. I wish her luck in selling that car.

Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

For anyone interested, a salvaged title means that the insurance company has paid the maximum allowance for repairing the vehicle in the past due to a previous accident or some similar thing such as theft and recovery. What this means is that if you buy the car then you can't put comprehensive insurance on it and if it is wrecked the insurance company will not pay you any money. So basically, you can get a car that runs well but if anything happens such as vandalism, theft, you hit a phone pole you are out a car and have no monetary compensation from the insurance people. They will pay any damages you incur to other vehicles/things but nothing for your car. It's very risky especially in SF. They were asking top dollar and I had negotiated down from their asking price by 700 but they actually committed a crime by not flat out telling me the car was salvaged and I didn't even know (I should KNOW better and damn well should have asked but with the asking price I ASSUMED it could not possibly be a salvaged title :~) until Emily asked me what salvaged title meant when looking at the paperwork. It also drops the value of the car in the eyes of kelly blue book by about half. I offered the woman a much smaller amount but she was unwilling to budge so we walked. I did find a potential miata tonight that we may go look at later this week. I have to admit I am having fun car shopping and you know what? Karma is good. Emily is a grade school music and theater teacher. She does good deeds every day by encouraging kids to explore their inner muses. She deserves someone to watch her back when making a big purchase like a car. Sorus, if you decide to get a car I got your back 100%. In fact if anyone has car questions and I can help I would be more than happy to do so. Just post the questions in the thread in General Discussion titled Cameraman Jenn's Workplace. I am happy to check estimate pricing discuss repair questions anything you all need.

nope, wasn't the box you sent! got that one too, btw, thank you!aliantha wrote:Skirts?? Wasn't the box *I* sent, then. Hmm... How was the Shakespeare performance?magickmaker17 wrote:Pretty good! I got a package I've been waiting 2 weeks for, with really pretty skirts in it!
In case anyone was interested, the skirts I got in the mail: Desert Sunset Skirt, and Forest Fire Skirt.
The Shakespeare Performance was awesome! They performed a modern interpretation of it, but they used all Shakespeare's original language.
Today, I am tired. I got up early to have breakfast with the Organic Chemistry group(there are 3 girls on my hall in the class, which meets every morning at 8am for the entire school year). I had my first rock climbing class this afternoon(no climbing yet, just learning to put on the harness and tie the rope), which was pretty awesome. Tonight I have to go to senate(our school's student government) to represent the Martial Arts club we're trying to get started on campus. I'm kind of excited about it, and at the same time, sometimes senate can get long, and boring, so I'm not super excited.
I live in my own little world...but its okay, they know me here!
Yep. . . that's the one! We didn't actually go since it was raining, but I think we'll go on the 27th instead. Let me know if you plan a trip to KC, and I'll drive up and meet you guys. I'm still unhappy I missed Denver Seafest.Cagliostro wrote: Wow, are you talking about the one in Bonner Springs, KS or maybe MO? That is my favorite spot to go for a Renaissance Faire. I wonder if they still have the fairy forest. That was the coolest new addition to the place the last time I went. I need to plan a trip the first weekend in October some year so I can do that and go to KC for the spook houses - the ones that are in old buildings that have 3 story slides in the middle of. The Beast and Edge of Hell were my favorites.

Best wishes with the smoking thing.

And Magickmaker. . . those skirts are gorgeous! I especially love the Desert Sunset one!

Tonight is Greek Dancing (last proctice before the festival!). Wish me luck!

I am tired and aggravated. Every morning I get woken up by the construction crews re-doing the sewers (and other city work of a similar nature). I need to go to bed very soon
Plus, I got called into the manager's office at work to be questioned about the amount of work I did when I was in on Sunday. It was especially aggravating cause I had a very busy day Sunday (almost didn't get to take lunch), and they seemed to think I hadn't done enough. I think I came out okay in that encounter, and the manager mentioned making some changes so that I can do more of what they want me to do, instead of the little things that I also need to do to keep the office running.
But it's still aggravating.

I am stressed. Two of my close friends within the last day and a half (and within 18 hours of each other) came to me because they were having (or were close to having) breakdowns, so I spent a few hours listening to them rather than a few hours doing homework. (I'd rather be with them anyway than do the homework, except that now I'm stuck doing homework at 1:30 in the morning.) I think that my listening to them has at least helped them get through some difficult days, and I'm glad that I was able to be helpful, but now I'm tired and emotionally drained and doing homework instead of sleeping. And I didn't get any dinner tonight. I have a lot of homework left before I can go to sleep tonight/this morning. Most of it feels like busywork, but it is all being graded and counts toward the final grade, so I have to finish it if I don't want my GPA to suffer. Now that I've vented a little bit of my negative energy, I think I might be able to finish at least some of my homework before I fall asleep on my computer.

I know, aren't they! If I had like another $500, it would probably be gone in like an hour on that website. Everything they have is beautiful, and I have a real weakness for pretty skirts!Wyldewode wrote:And Magickmaker. . . those skirts are gorgeous! I especially love the Desert Sunset one!

haha, I was waiting for that! but hey, all the important bits are covered!aliantha wrote:Ahem...what is that outfit that your avatar is almost wearing, young lady?
Its not a skirt I own, and its not a picture of me, its an icon I picked up from livejournal.
My day's been pretty good, if long. I had time to stop by Moody(the dining hall) between classes this afternoon and grab a sandwich and a banana to go before my next class started, so I actually got a semblance of lunch today!
I had choir this afternoon, it was good, we were learning/practicing a song we sang last year. However, I discovered that there's a note that I sang wrong all last year, and the girl next to me did the same thing! It was kind of funny!
And then the club fair was this evening! I'm really excited because we got a lot of signatures of people who are interested in the martial arts club we're trying to get started.
but then I got mad. The girl who was my roommate last year is trying to start up a pagan group on campus. There was one in the past, but its been inactive for several years. She's been working all summer trying to find interested people to help her restart it. She just found out that there's another girl on campus who was like, oh, I'm going to restart Bell, Book, and Candle. So she went to talk to this girl, and the girl completely blew her off, like isn't interested in working together, and was like, 'oh, but I've already made a facebook group'(which makes it totally legit, and gives her more rights to start the club back up than we do, apparently). So I'm kind of concerned about how all that is going to pan out.

Hey, baby, nice assatar.
Me? Well, I've been having the lovely tradition of coughing until I vomit each morning for the last few days. I am very hoarse, which is a lot of fun on the phone with people. But it does appear that I am having Carla's morning sickness for her as she has had none of that yet. Still, whatever I can do to help.

Well, got up early this morning with the intent to drive Canaan to the airport. He called to let me know he was gonna be on his way in a few minutes and to make sure I was ready. Then he calls back a few minutes later to tell me the miata is gone. Stolen. Gone. He was able to push his flight back to 3:10 and then called the cops. I rushed out of the apartment so that I could hurry to work and give the cops the vehicle information since the registration was in the car and Canaan hadn't memorized his license. I was dressed in jeans, aqua blue converse sneakers and a black sweatshirt. While standing on the street corner trying to hail a cab a latino guy walked past and mumbled something to me. I said, "Excuse me?" he said clearly, "How much?" Apparently I can be mistaken for a hooker. I had about five cabs pass me by then I realized that there WAS a crack whore standing about five feet behind me so I crossed the street and was able to hail the next cab. It's been a lovely morning. Simply lovely.

HAHAHHAAHHA!!!! My boss Igor's best friend, Vlad, just made his everyday morning phone call and I told him about my morning and he laughed and said that I should be flattered that at 39 years old men are very willing to pay me for sex.
