Probably your wisest course of action with a drama queen. Good luck...Sorus wrote:I'm going to keep a close eye on things, but avoid taking any action unless it becomes necessary - she wants conflict and drama and I'm not going to give it to her.

Sorry to hear about the drama, Sorus!
As for me, I am planning on celebrating my birthday by going out with a different group of friends each day this weekend (that means three fabulous parties for me!). And I only had to work 3 hours today (the one nice thing about working for salary). I think I'm going to eat something with a ton of cheese on it for lunch.
Happy weekend, Kevisnwatch!

I feel good today. Carla has a little peanut inside her that is 7 weeks old today. It will be growing considerably bigger by the due date of May 10.
We will be getting married in Vegas over Thanksgiving and will be staying at the Luxor.
And tonight, we are going to see Avenue Q. Yay!

I just ate some disappointing cake. I'm at my mum's place (for increased proximity to the imminent Lorefest in London) and her partner was sneakily eating this deep brown cake. If he's being sneaky, it's usually because he's found something really nice that he doesn't want anyone else to find. So I ate some.
From its appearance I expected it to have a dark, maybe gingery, flavour. But instead it tasted like farts. Not as much like farts as valerian, but there was nonetheless a definite tone of gaseous emission to that cake.
Maybe it was a trick. Decoy sneaking to distract me from the good stuff.

Cake that tasted like farts? Gross. Didn't you sniff it first before biting into it? I always sniff unknown foods before I put them in my mouth. Obviously nobody has ever trained you properly in the art of fridge raiding.

Yep! Double posting. I got stuck at work an hour late past closing. Finally got home and all I wanted was to veg and continue my earlier convo with someone but got ambushed by Jorge at the gate. He kept me yammering for a good half an hour. In that time Lucimay's hubbie came home accompanied by Web Monkey and so we spoke in the hall. Then it finally culiminated in Jorge wanting to ask me a favor by keeping his plants in my place and caring for them while he's in Venezuela for six months. I finally broke away hoping to be able to continue my discussion with someone and found that same someone tired and ready for bed. I was all set to write off the evening when MM contacted me and that made my night much much better. We talked, played literati and it was great to be in contact with him. I am off to pimp the MIA thread with how much I miss the Matrixman.

Folks who frequent the Hangar already, kind of, know this and I've been trying to keep it as quiet here as possible, but Lady Tam is back in the hospital today. The Mistress of Elohimfest and I wanted to keep from reporting this, because we really didn't want to upset people.
It's all good, it's rather dangerous, it's bad. She's had long term progressive pressure on her spinal cord dating back from a bike accident she had in 5th grade. Her current condition was exacerbated by Grace's little suitcase falling back out of the overhead luggage rack on her head on way home from Tampa at the end of June. She's been off work on and off through August (mostly off) and spent the 21st of August in the ER, via ambulance at the assistance of her Dr. at the pain clinic, she had pain and loss of feeling in her right arm and left leg-and other problems. We finally saw the orthopedic surgeon in early Sept--and got a 2nd opinion shortly after.
Apparently her 5th and 6th vertebrae are pressing hard on her spinal cord and it passage there is very narrow. She also has arthritic degeneration. She is going to have surgery on Oct. 16th to correct this, if she can last till then. What they're going to do is take out her 5th vertebrae and the two discs it shares and put in a synthetic spacer and fuse it with staples and a titanium plate. I know of two other people who have had this done and the say it has changed their quality of life dramatically.
She gave up her heavy duty painkillers over two weeks ago and was happy but fatigued and working four days a week. Last night she thought she was getting gout because her knee started to swell and this morning she had a real hard time walking on both legs. So, hopefully they'll get her back on the heavy duty meds an she'll be okay. If not they may move the surgery up. I'm at home now with Elora Grace but was with her for three hours. She was processed and triage d but hadn't seen a DR. yet. I'm waiting for her to call to be picked up with good news--but her condition seems to keep getting worse. And I'm really starting to sweat it.
