Oliver Wakeman and Benoit David will tour with them.

I don't blame him. Pretty cold if you ask me. Regardless of how good David is, I would boycot out of respect. "Business is Business" says you?.. only if people agree with it, says I.
Cold and bad.

"Not Yes"
OMFG! No other band in the history of bands has had such a revolving line-up of members. But when they replace him, it's not Yes anymore!?! Get a grip, dude, you're just the Mickey Mouse screechy-voiced fairy-dressed front man. You're the most replaceable member of the group!

In my opinion, it's not Yes without Bruford.

Bruford's drumming was, and is, unique, IMO.

For me, Squire defines Yes.
On his website, Anderson says it's Squire who arranges the vocal harmonies, which is an essential component of their music for me.

However, unless they performed within an hour drive of me, I won't go further to see them without Anderson. Orlando, St. Pete, and Miami are all further than that. Should they schedule a show in Jacksonville, I'll reconsider.

We saw Journey in Tampa when they were just here. They were good, but lacked something, although all the chops were there. I feel this line-up of Yes will be similar...

You've got a good point about Squire. Not to mention his voice sounds remarkably like Anderson's anyway. I've always thought Anderson was the weakest link.

I like Anderson, including his stuff with Vangelis and solo.
But...

Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, and Howe was not Yes either...
...even with Tony Levin on bass...

I'm sure the guys in Yes would prefer to have Jon with them, but to them it's their job, and I can understand why they'd like to keep the thing going while he's recovering.

8O WHAT? --- Squires voice does not sound like Anderson's.... Big difference. Listen to that dreadful "After the Fox" song ...
Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, and Howe was not Yes either...
...even with Tony Levin on bass...
No, but in my humble opinion, I take that lineup over the "Big Generator" line-up ANY DAY! Saw ABWH live and was mesmerized... they were their own opening band and were astounding. The "yes" show was awe-inspiring ... it took me back to the early days ... THAT was as close as it gets. Even "Union" tour couldn't come close....

I'm sure the guys in Yes would prefer to have Jon with them, but to them it's their job, and I can understand why they'd like to keep the thing going while he's recovering.
In essence, you are right. But it's sad when a group like Yes, with all their musical messages, can't wait a tad for their lead singer (and, let's not beat around the bush) the heart of the band to recover. It sounds like a desperate money grab to me....
I lost respect for Squire in that move. Love him as a musician, but would not go see this tour if I was given front row tix.

You should have stopped with 'I am right". At least, that's what my ex always told me, so I assume it's true. I lost respect for you when you called Squire a money grabber.

I seem to recall that the reason the ABWH album was so called was because Squire had (or shared) the rights to the YES name and any line up without him could not be called YES without his permission.

*nod*

This is true, from what I had heard as well.

But, that's not what I meant when I said ABWH was not Yes either...

The music just...wasn't Yes.

It was superb.

But it wasn't Yes.

I already got tix for Richmond VA, and then they added Greensboro a couple weeks later... so I guess I'll be seeing them twice ;-) Unless I decide not to go to G'boro. Umphrey's McGee is playing the next night at the same place in Richmond so I'll probably stay up there for both shows.

David's voice is good, but no one else is Jon. Certainly he's much better than Trevor Horn ;-) . Still, it'll be good to see Howe and Squire. And Oliver's no slouch.
