Songs from the books

Post by nomad70 »

Has there been any attempt to put music to the various songs in the books? Did Stephen Donaldson have any particular songs or types of songs in mind as he was writing them? (eg for Lord of the Rings JRR Tolkien wrote many of his songs to pub songs he knew while growing up).

I've asked him this question in person and the answer is no, he has no clue to the melody of any of his "songs" as he writes them or reads them. :P I have put one to music however...

Kudos, Jenn. As a songwriter, I find his "songs" challengingly devoid of meter or traditional structure. But that is how many of the Psalms read today, and they are the best-selling poetry of all time.

Julie and I were brainstorming and trying to fit the songs to pop music and then I said, "What if we just make some horrible senseless melody like this...." and we went with it. :P
