ACDC Black Ice
ACDC's new album is amazing, possibly their best ever. It is amazing that a band comprised of guys in their 50's and 60's can give the gift of Rock and Roll back to the world in such a hard way. Brian Johnson's voice is much improved since he stopped smoking and the writing and playing are in top form. ACDC is one of my guilty pleasures and I am blown away by the new album.

I have to admit I'm very impressed with what I've heard. His voice sounds like it has actually recovered from the treatment he's given it over the decades. The music sounds classic. I'm glad the boys are still making new music, rather than just capitalizing on the past. Good for them. Though I'm not a huge fan, I respect what they've done over the years, and I've very happy for them for producing this new CD.

Okay, so I finally had a chance to buy & listen to this CD. SBG's description above is quite accurate. It is very solid! If you dislike the group this CD won't convert you, but that is probably a good thing. This CD is probably the best (and perhaps only valid) argument I have ever heard for rock musicians producing new music this late in their careers.Sunbaneglasses wrote:Really, it is like someone got a time machine, went back to 1980 stole a really awesome ACDC album and brought it back to 2008.

Grrr. . . Snakes and Arrows!! Vapor Trails! Rush has never stopped making new music. And it doesn't sound like someone stole one of their albums from the 70s. It actually sounds *new.*AjK wrote:This CD is probably the best (and perhaps only valid) argument I have ever heard for rock musicians producing new music this late in their careers.

Okay, okay! Peace. I really wasn't trying to make an all-inclusive statement, although I probably did have groups like the Rolling Stones in mind when I said that. (Mick Jagger fans may now commence flaying me.Malik23 wrote:Grrr. . . Snakes and Arrows!! Vapor Trails! Rush has never stopped making new music. ha I thought the same thing! I think Black Ice is a great album. AC/DC is one of my favorite guilty listening bands. I'm glad to see something fresh from them. And I really loved the country undertones in this album. I'm not a fan of country, but I think it blended well.AjK wrote:Okay, okay! Peace. An act's album can sound "new" but not be as good or energetic as previous releases. My comparison of this new AC/DC album and their work from decades ago was in terms of energy and quality. I was not trying to imply that it was a carbon copy (or worse, a rip-off) of previous albums. In this case I would not call Black Ice a rehash.

Got this for Christmas, and IT ROCKS.
Superb album with some great songs on it, can't stop playing it in the car - it's driving my wife and kids crazy (gonna have 3 & 4 year old AC/DC fans soon
)
Got tickets to see them at Hampden Park, Glasgow this June - can't wait - it's one of the major live acts I've never seen - so roll on June.
