Imagine we couldn't eat one of staple types of meat any more....which one would you miss most?

Pigs
All the pigs in the world get up on their back legs and join civilisation as we know it. Humankind rapidly comes to the conclusion that they're several magnitudes of intelligence greater than us, and it would probably be a good idea to stop eating them, in case they take over and start farming us!
Things you might miss....
Bacon mmmm
gammon mmmmm
sauages mmmm
ham mmmmmmm,

Cows
The Hindu deity Ganesh manifests and anyone caught slaughtering a cow gets trampled by his great big all-seeing elephant feet!
No more...
Steak (rare takes on a completely different meaning)
Roast beef
Mince (and that means spaghetti bolognese and chilli!)

Sheep
OIV (ovine immunodeficiency virus) spreads like the plague it is from the Welsh mountains to the furthest corners of the earth. No more sheep means no more lamb!
No Irish Stew
No more herb encrusted haunch of lamb
No more doner kebabs
No more lamb biriyani :cry:

Poultry
Well, this is coming anyway.
Farewell to...
drumsticks, KFC, thanksgiving turkey, beer chicken, no more spicy wings!

Seafood
The white seal leads all the denizens of the deep to a secret sea where man never comes.
Fish and chips gone!
Prawn cocktail gone!
Salmon fishcakes gone!
Chowder gone!

Any one would be a tragedy, but which would you miss most, and which forbidden dish would mean life loses all its colour?

Wow, what a choice.
I've cut way back on beef eating, but I do love it so.
But poultry is so versatile, especially chicken...

In terms of pure luxury, nothing beats a well-grilled, well-marbled ribeye. I like it even better than a filet mignon. Combined with the near "staple" ubiquity of burgers, I suppose I have to go with the option: cow.

But it's hard to beat a pig. Baby back ribs. Smoked pork shoulder. Man, since I got my smoker this summer, I never knew BBQ could be so good. A pork shoulder (Boston Butt) smoked for 11 hours just falls apart. Sure, you hear this phrase sometimes about meat. But you've never seen anything this tender and juicy until you smoke one yourself, and have it fresh. "Pulled pork" isn't just a style of serving meat. It's a necessity: there is no other way to eat or serve it. You can't slice off a piece of something this tender and juicy.

I could do without poultry. Fish and seafood would be a bit harder to give up.

only eat fish and birds now. more variety with seafood. i choose that.

No way I could go without seafood. The variety is so endless. To live with out shrimp, scallops, crab, bass, walleye...... couldn't be done....

I'm gonna go for pig (despite Samuel Jackson), I think there's too many things I'd miss. Ham sandwich is my basic rushed meal, bacon sandwich is my weekend treat, chorizo sausage goes in my quick pasta dishes, roast pork is my favourite Sunday roast.

Sheep and seafood, though I like them both I wouldn't miss them too much.
Beef is everywhere but I think I could do with out.
Pig..........bacon........bacon..........but that's it....hmm............
I think I'd miss Poultry the most.

And I bet I could get used to turkey bacon after a while.

I very rarely eat red meat any more. Mostly it's chicken and turkey these days. So I picked poultry. But I would be *very* sad if I could never, ever have another pork chop or slice of pork roast....

Life without chicken soup is incomplete. And Thanksgiving would never be the same without turkey. And the chicken patty sandwich is sometimes the only edible food offered in the dorms. I need poultry!

Beef.

When I went vegetarian for Lent last year, I didn't miss anything other than beef. After Easter I wanted to run out into a field, dip a whole cow in butter and devour it. Pork's good, and there's really no part of the pig I dislike (mmmmmmmm, scrapple), but nothing beats a burger. Or a taco. Or a roast. Or a steak.

Pig. Both the taste the versatility. And soooo manny traditional Danish meals that would be out of bounds.

And of course the company and the smell ;)

(Did you know, that at any one time there are more than twice as many pigs as people in Denmark, and that we produce 5 times as many pigs each year as we are people?)

I had a very hard time choosing between seafood and cow. The thought of never having a steamed crab again is tragic, or lobster, or southern fried fish, or beer battered fish and chips, or beer battered shrimp liberally dipped in spicy cocktail sauce.... it was tough though, the thought of never eating a thick rare slab of prime rib is also quite daunting.
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

This is a tough thing to answer. I think I might have been too hasty with my answer. I put poultry because that is the meat I eat the most of. But when I think about the meat that I enjoy eating the most, it would be from our bovine friends.

I chose poultry, but am now torn. I almost always eat chicken or turkey, but it would be sad not to be able to eat beef again. :(
