Thonunian looks suprised at what Renard said, then pulls him out of earshot for a little talk.

"you are welcome, milady. I'm sorry, but now i have to take care of the other person down in the cells."
Alan does a deep bow.

"Yes, milady. I would like to rescue my armor... at least in that way i could take another piece of my life..."
Arael says

"Oh! yes yes yes, winged man! i'm sure you will need it in the future! yes yes!"
The goblin says laughing

"I agree the armor should be found, Arael."

We will need all the help we can get to clear the debris in a timely manner. Atrus and the half-blood should be here to help, if possible...

Seeing Thonunian and Renard still deep in conversation, Tänya smiles at Balpur and Arael. "The fighter went back to the ruins, and has been awaiting us there. I do not know what happened to the half-blood, as I admit I don't recall much of anything after Renard and I found our way down to a cell until we awoke. But I do not think we should keep the fighter waiting until we get to the armor.

"It is morning, and Atrus is at the ruins. It should be safe..."

Rummaging in her backpack, Tänya removes parchment, quill, and ink and jots a quick note. "I do hope the fighter can read," she mumbles under her breath. "And if not, that the half-blood is with him to read it for them both..."
We rested far longer than intended, and have decided to help Arael recover the armor Nando said he found him in. If the ruins are secure, we could use your help. Solana will gladly bring you to the site of the first battle in a timely manner to help us dig our way down.
Stepping outside, she makes her way to the ever patient Solana and attaches the note to her halter so it stays securely and will not fall. Then grasping her wooden rising sun symbol which hung upon her neck, she mumbles a few arcane words and moves her free hand in a well choreographed motion around the horse's head. A golden light surrounds Solana's ears, and as it fades the horse gives a soft nicker and heads off in the direction of the old temple of the twin g-ddesses.

[ooc]Solana has been temporarily taught the trick Fetch using the druid Animal Trick spell. She is off to bring back Atrus and Ahkash, hopefully upon her back...[/ooc]

Thonunian finishes his conversation with Renard, and the two of them head back over to the rest of the group.

"Arael, there are a few things I would like to try with you. I'd like to see if you know how to use that sword better than you have been. It is also possible, although unlikely, that you once knew how to use magic, so I want to test that as well.

"These things are probably going to have to wait until later, but if you do not want to find out more here, we could go outside and check now."

"That is fine" Arael says.
"We have to wait for Atrus and Ahkash... i think we have time for what you have in mind."
He points the exit with a finger.
"Let's go out and show me what you want."

Admiring the confidence by which Thonunian takes 'responsibility' for Arael, Renard is equally eager to see what the tall elven warrior has in mind. Also quite curious to see what kind of armour awaits buried in the farmstead of his 'father'.
With a glint in his eyes, Renard turns to Tänya, "Shall we go? We can assist as best as we are able to in retrieving Arael's armour and then meet up with Ahkash and Atrus. I am also curious to see if Atrus managed to lure an unsuspecting barmaid out to the ruins during his watch. <wink>" I am also curious to see how well Solana faired in her mission.

And offering his arm to the elvin druid, follows behind Thonunian and Arael.

"Balpur, may I ask," inquires Renard, looking about for the goblin shaman who never seems too far away, "How did you come to be here in Pan's Town, blessed with seeming foreknowledge of what was about to happen? Were you visited by a strange person in clockwork-like armour? Did you receive a different 'vision', urging you to come here?" And with a impish grin, adds, "Or as you just a good-guessing goblin with repetitious patter?"

Taking his arm with a light touch yet again, Tänya replies, "Let us do so, kind sir."

[ooc]hmm...
Does anyone else get the feeling Tänya can't get anywhere on her own?
...must be a technique to prevent her from getting the party into another fight by running off on her own again... ;)

DM, could you do a spot and search check please once we reach the burned out debris of the farmhouse? I'm interested in knowing if there is any other accessible way to the armor, other than digging through the debris.[/ooc]

Tänya's pointed ears perk at this, as it is very similar to what she herself had asked the goblin. Wondering if the answer would change at all, she attempts to listen surreptitiously, failing utterly. She is well aware of the bard's hidden amusement at her curiosity...

You are walking toward the destroyed farm.
It will take about five or ten minutes to get there.

Thonunian wants to "test" Arael before or after you arrive to the farm?

"yes yes, of course you can! I'm here because i was sent by a god. I dunno which god, but indeed it was a light god! The creature approached me was completly surrounded by light and he said the gods are watching me, and you , and you all of us!!! yes yes all!"
The goblin says with an incredible happiness in his voice!
"I love to be sent! My family sent me away many years ago... i had to go away... and now i'm here... to answer the gods calling... yes yes, the gods calling!"
He's discourse is a little bit confusing... you don't have a clear picture of what he wants to say... Probably because he's common isn't so good (and the DM knows very well what does it mean! :P)
Although you understand that he's sincere.

[ooc]Ha!

Patience, DM.
Beorn should be walking in from the school bus within ten to fifteen minutes or so...

I should insist he does his homework first...[/ooc]

"I thank you, Bapur. Your candor is welcome. I cannot say that I was issued here by the gods, but more my wandering feet. However, once here I was visited by a strange being --- which I thought was a dream at first, for 'his' visit came in my slumber. However I have come to accept that fates or no, mission or no, I cannot stray from this path I find myself on." Renard takes an unconscious look at Tänya.

"However, for my own piece of mind, I will not place the weight of 'world-saving hero' upon my shoulders, for that is more the mantle of you good folk, for you all bear its resemblance. I will be content with being the chronicler of these exploits --- and lending a hand with my 'pig-sticker' when necessary."

[ooc]well, either before we leave to head there, or before Ahkash and Atrus show up...[/ooc]

Thounian turns to Arael, and says, "I don't really think you would know any magic, but I am curious. Perhaps if I slowly show you some magical gestures, you would recognize them. I also couldn't help noticing that you sword is around the same size as mine, and if you had the training necessary to use it one-handed, I think it would be better for all of us if you became aware of it."

[ooc]I'm not sure how I would test his ability to use his bastard sword properly, but... I'm sure Thonunian would :P[/ooc]

You can simply attack him and see how he reacts... or you can ask him to attack you.

I think that should work.

Thonunian looks at Arael.

"Would you like to test your skills with the sword, or see if you can use magic first?"

"All right then. Draw your sword, and try holding it in one hand."

When he has done so, Thonunian says "Now, lets try to do this quickly and safely."

And launches an attack, aiming for nonlethal damage.

He continues for about 2 minutes.

[ooc]I have to go now. Please tell us whether or not Arael can use it one-handed, and I'll try to be back soon.[/ooc]

Arael take the sword in one hand without any problem. Actually he can use the sword with the off hand without problems.

He swings the sword carefully and he seems to be able to do almost all things with the weapon.

"I feel like i ever used a weapon like that..."

He looks the weapon and then to Thonunian.
"You are a good Teacher!"

Renard takes in the sight of this 'farmer's son' wielding a bastard sword with ease, and smiles at his comment of Thonunian being a good teacher.
He knows that Thonunian is indeed an excellent warrior, but it is likely the sword-talent of the winged man is inate, and Thonunian obviously knows this.
Still, it is something Renard doubts he would have thought of (being mighterer with the pen than the sword), and when the opportunity arises, and Thonunian catches Renard's eye, the bard gives the elf a nod and a bow.

Thonunian's eyes widen, then he sighs.

Well, I did expect that...

It is annoying though. He is actually better with it than me! I wish I could use either hand like that...

"Well...

That is quite good, Arael. Now I think we should test to see if you have any magic. This test will be much simpler than the regular one, since you ought to remember pretty easily if you do already know how...

Watch me closely, and see if any particular combinations of my motions seem to be something you could continue."

Thonunian starts making arcane gestures, deliberately going much slower than he normally would.
