dlb, how was your evening watching the game? Any problems from Florida fans?
We watched part of it in my room then went to Friday's for dinner and watched the 2nd half there. No problems at all.

See?

I told you there wouldn't have been any problems if we went off somewhere to watch it.

I don't receive CBS here, but I found the game online...

I really hope I'll be able to do the same with the Orange Bowl, if it isn't on a station we get here.

Congrats to Florida for a big win againts most hated Alabama.

I really think that this is going to be a big cluster* in deciding the nat'l championship game...but Alabama in not winning the conference should be out of the equation.

Florida has earned their spot. Let's hope that they don't get screwed.

Regards...a resident Gators fan down in the bayou...at least for the rest of this season.

It's official, Monte Kiffin will be our next defensive coordinator:

And an SEC team is again National Champions, for at least the fourth year in a row. Did an SEC team win for the 2005 season, and sequential years earlier?

SEC! SEC!! SEC!!!

So...
There is this quiz on Facebook...
"What SEC football team best suits you..."

Not only were the results totally off base, the quiz itself just...sucked.

So, I'm thinking of creating my own.

What sort of general questions could be asked about all the schools and/or teams? I'm willing to do the research, but a general idea of what questions y'all feel should be used to determine the results would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance...

...and dlb... :|

Have you ever pinched a tail or sucked a head on the way to see your team?

Then you must be an LSU Tiger fan, of course.

Excellent.

Others similar examples for each of the schools would make up one question along the lines of "What foods are eaten before the game?"

I guess for the Gators it would be:
"Standing in line for hours, hoping the neon guac sign in lit."

Thanks jel.

I hope to get about ten questions along these sort of lines.

That's because no one expects Kiffin's Vols to be able to beat the Gators this year, especially in The Swamp.

Meaning, of course, that it would be a perfect opportunity to put Meyer in his place and ruin the Gators' season.

...yeah.
There is that.

But with luck and skill, that won't happen.

Florida will open the 2009 season as a 73-point favorite over Charleston Southern. Point spreads are not typically given when FBS and FCS teams play one another. It’s usually looked at as a glorified scrimmage for the FBS team and so there is no way to effectively determine how much they should win by.

But Danny Sheridan of the USA Today thinks otherwise. He believes the Gators are worthy of being listed as 73-point favorites in their season opener. 10 touchdowns and a field goal later – all while the defense posts a shutout – Florida will head to the locker room victorious.
Wow, I see that the Gators really went out of their way to find a worthy opponent to start the season with.

What...Prairieview was not available? Or maybe just a little too much competetion?

...and so the trash talk begins.

ORANGE!!
BLUE!!!

(yes, the above is a link)

But truthfully...

It's been that way since before I worked there.
Unsure if it started with Jeremy Foley's tenure or before.
But the first two games at home, unless it's one of the years where we play Miami, are always out of conference warm-up games. And the one against Central Florida a few years ago was close.

...anyway.
That reminds me...

In all kinds of weather
We'll all stick together
for F-L-O-R-I-D-A!!

So how did the SEC do overall this week, guys?
We never got a digital converter box, and I haven't checked out ESPN or anywhere else on the 'net.
I'd rather hear y'all cheer or rant.

I do know the Gators opener sounds like it went as expected, at least by the score. I'll learn more details when I read the Sports section tomorrow.
