Man i am tired, up all night watching GANTZ anime.

Anyone ever seen Gantz? If you haven't it is a SAW meets Cube like anime where a group of people from every walk of life who have recently died end up in an apt room with a sinister black sphere. They are completely disoriented and then the game starts.

Music starts blaring and it opens revealing futuristic guns and briefcases, then they get a message across the sphere's surface telling them basically their behinds belong to GANTZ ( the Sphere) now. Gantz then shows them a target they must kill, usually an alien roaming Tokyo. What Gantz fails to mention is that the alien target usually has a partner who's going to reenact the Texas Chainsaw massacre upon them.

These people act like people. They don't believe at first or get pissed off easily, all lending themselves to general mookery and instant death by mutilation by some pissed off creature from another world.

Some survive to be called back to the Sphere, but it's not many where they receive a score at the end of the hour, whether they succeed or not in killing the target. They find out they have to reach 100 points in order to end the game because they will be called again and again to face new deadly challenges as time goes on.

When they get called back they meet up with new people who have died have no idea what's happening and they the survivors from the previous game know what's waiting for them outside the door of Gantz's apt while trying to convince the new players of the deadliness of what going to happen to them.

I found it enjoyable up till the second half of season 2. You can tell they were getting cancelled and that they rushed the last part of the series. It has some really interesting moments in it before that though. Best part of it you don't know who's going to survive like in a George RR Martin book.

Anyways you can find the whole thing on Youtube under Gantz. Beware though extremely violent and has lots of sexual content. Like most Anime.

Interesting. The name is familiar but I know nothing about it. Based on what you've said, it could actually be interesting enough to merit a watch. If I watch it, I'll post my thoughts.

Watched the first six episodes today. Episode six was a bit dodgy; a bit too 'traditional anime uncomfortable boy behaving inappropriately with girl'. The previous episodes, though, were distinctly enjoyable, and the overal concept is interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes.
