Apple iPhone 3G

Post by Harbinger »

Broke my RAZR this week. It was like #6, but I''ve had it for more than two years and it had been used 1500 hours plus and was working fine. Went to AT&T to get another and the new phones they have mostly sucked. No RAZRS, mostly data phones, sliders, fat little phones with weak hinges. It was not a fun experience.

So I ended up with the 3G iPhone or whatever. It can surf the internet and has 16 jiggawatts or something.

Taking this thing back. It does have some cool features, (the camera is badass) but the reception is inferior to my old razr and it's a bitch to use while driving. With my razr, I didn't have to take my eyes off the road. It's heavy and uncomfortable. AND you have to buy some $30 a month data package or something. I was You Tubing Bugs Bunny in Hillbilly Hare while on a boring drive on a two lane highway when I realized I had to get rid of this phone. What this phone is good for is taking to the doctor's office or something.

I need a phone to make and recieve calls. This phone sucks in that category.

Everyone I know who has the iPhone really loves it. Conversely, most people I know who have the RAZR have had serious problems with it (my sister, for example, has had four RAZRs in the past year). Anecdotal, I know, but that seems to be sort of a consensus. Myself, I'm very satisfied with my KRAZR but I would love an iPhone if I had AT&T.

I don't know anyone who's had good luck with the RAZR. My wife had the SLVR (a RAZR that doesn't flip open) and it was a piece of crap. I would try an iPhone if I had AT&T but I have to say that I'm a bit depressed by the overwhelming drive towards touchscreens. I have an LG EnV and I love the feel of the real keyboard, but when this phone dies I don't know what I will go to next. My wife has the EnV2 but the front screen on that phone is too small for my tastes.

All I want in a phone is something that won't break (not a flip-phone . . . those hinges suck) and something that is small enough that I can put it in my pocket without looking like I'm happy to see everyone. 8)

I've got a Sony Ericsson slider that fits the bill. It's a Walkman, so it picks up FM radio and doubles as an MP3. It has 3G, but I don't use it. It was free with my plan. The camera is nice.
