Brethren, some of my followers have determined there is a new tetrarchy of evil rising, composed of Four Deities of Darkness. I will have it known I do not see all of these deities as necessarily "evil." Misguided perhaps, but not evil.

I will not libel those which these followers have claimed to be such by saying whom they are. Suffice it to say I disagree with their findings as stated.

I will instruct Raucous and Estiä to do what they can to keep the populace enlightened and not swayed by assumption.

Where is the tetrarchy located?

I must say, Eztlicoatl's move of putting a Sun over the Abyss is inspired! It may keep the Abyss' denizens away.

Of course, it may provoke them. But they'll come out to attack soon enough anyway, so it may as well be now. *shrug*

Smoke filled the air, clotting lungs, blinding eyes, causing a general state of disarray. People rushed around, the looks upon their faces expressed their panic. “This is the third time this season! Someone needs to stop this madman already!” One woman screeched over the roar of the fire. Other’s mumbled their agreement as the crowd’s number swelled before the burning building. “The people are starting to lose faith in your ability to lead, my lordship.” A portly man in the crowd turned to regard the voice, his face was marked with worry lines and he had heavy bags under his eyes. “I made the decision that was best for the town, deputy.” The deputy, a middle-aged man with fair colored hair turned his sight back to the burning home. “I am not the only one that is starting question that choice, my lord.” A couple faces turned from the fire to regard the two men. The mayor eyed them and lowered his voice so that only the deputy could hear, “We shall continue this discussion in my hall, Deputy Holden.”

The two gentlemen had separated from the crowd, working their way back to the mayor’s hall towards the middle of the small town. Little was spoken between the two on the way to the building, letting the screams of the villagers weigh heavy on their shoulders. Once inside, the mayor removed his overcoat, placing it upon a peg designated for coats. He sat down behind his large desk, rubbing his face in the palms of his chubby hands. “You said you would have the arsonist captured before he struck again, deputy.” Holden ran a soot covered hand through his hair, letting out a resounding sigh. “Your lordship, I am doing everything within my ability.” He turned his sights to the billowing smoke in the sky. “If the captain were here…” The mayor stopped him with an upraised hand, his expression stern. “As I told you earlier, I did what was best for the community.” Deputy Holden turned to face the mayor; his watering eyes betrayed the firmness in his voice. “You did what YOU thought was best for your pockets… not for the community.” He paused, turning back to the window. “I am going to return to my crime scene and investigation.” Before the mayor could get out a word of protest, the deputy was already out the door.

Once the flaming establishment was reduced to a pile of smoldering embers, the crowd slowly dispersed. Fellow villagers were consoling the remainder of the family that once lived in the building, offering a temporary home and vengeance against the man who would do such a thing. At the end of the night, three of six were dead and anger filled the hearts and mind of the villagers. He watched the last of the people move away from the home before he made his approach. The man paused at where the door had been, rapping lightly upon the charred remnants of the door frame. Waiting for a moment, he bowed slightly before he stepped over the tinder that was once the door.

Moving around the home, the gentleman paced around the house before he came upon the singed frame of a chair. It seemed as though he was taking a measure of the seat before he placed himself gently upon it. Crossing his legs, he reached up and pulled back the hood of the cloak that rested upon his head. The gentleman seemed to be just that, a very distinguished man with a trimmed goatee and hair dark as night tied back in to a tidy ponytail. He took a breath, resting his hands upon his upraised knee. “I do appreciate that you took me into your home tonight for it does not seem to be a good night to be out on the streets.” He tilted his head slightly to the side as if he was listening for something. “Why did I burn down your house you ask? Oh, well really you have no one to blame for it. Really, I am being very serious. It is not the mayor’s fault for sentencing me to exile for a crime that I did not commit. It is not your father’s fault for being one of my major accusers in the travesty that was a hearing. And it is definitely not your fault for being one of many villagers that cursed my name as the guard dragged me out of the village.”

He tilted his head to the side once more, listening intently to the voices. “What was that you say? I am to blame? As I told you, no one is to blame. You can toss all the accusations that you want, but if you really want to place the blame on someone, it should really be placed upon yourself.” The gentleman brushed his trousers, making his way to his feet. “Well if you will excuse me, I appreciate your hospitality, but I must be on my way.” Drawing up his hood once more, he took a step forward before stopping in his track. The glint of steel out of the corner of his eye was his first warning; the pressure of the blade on his neck was the second. “I think I might have to agree with whomever you were talking to about whom to place the blame on.” The gentleman turned his head slightly to get a look at the man with the sword. A smile slowly sprawled on the cloaked man’s face as he regarded the identity of the fair haired deputy, whose wrist slacked and eyes widened at the sight of the man.

“Well now, this is for sure a pleasant surprise. I suppose that if you are siding with the child, than you know that I must be on my way.” The gentleman attempted to start away, but the deputy firmed up his sword against his neck. “You know that I cannot let you go after the admission to the crime, and no doubt you are responsible for the other fires over the season…” Chuckling aloud, the gentleman merely gave a shrug as an answer. “Of all the people I would thought responsible… Captain… why? Why would you start these fires? Why would y-…” The deputy was cut short with a sudden gasp, his eyes widened as he looked down to his stomach. Protruding from his gut was the pommel of a dagger and his eyes looked back up to the captain who offered another shrug. The life fell from the eyes of the fallen deputy, but the captain smiled wider as his eyes fell upon the sword that was in his dead hand. “Finally…” He muttered through his grin, pulling the sword close and his hood tight.

Within an hour, he had left the town a good distance behind as he worked in to the woods. The Enthed Forest was a complex forest to navigate, but when he was the village’s enforcement captain, he had chased many of criminals in to woods. A cave seemed to emerge from a rocky slope and the gentleman moved his way in. Inside, it seemed to be accommodated enough to live in. He sat down upon a flat stone, placing the sword against the cave side, as he ignited the wick of a candle. Leaning back, he turned to regard the sword, lightly smiling to the sword. The captain tilted his head slightly as he chuckled. “Don’t think anything of it. I always enjoy entertaining company, especially friends who finally see the truth.

“Hmm? Oh, I know. It seems a little preposterous that this is the only way, but now you know and I have no reason to continue to go back to that retched town.” He paused, and then chuckled again. “Oh, no need to be flattered. I know you were the only person in the entire village to believe that I didn’t do that. I know, I know, you had to play to the mayor or he would have exiled you as well. Do not fret, my friend, you’re here now with me and my mission is fulfilled. I have brought you to my side and together we can set out on a new and grand adventure, lad.”

“So, now what are you going to do?” The gentleman glanced around the cave cautiously, not sure where the voice was coming from, but was trying to spot where this new voice came from. Sitting upon a rock across from him was a mask. It was not like any kind of mask he had seen before. Half red, half black, it looked like it should rest on the bridge of the nose, four twisting spires rose from the mask, almost like a contorted crown. The captain regarded it with growing interest. “That is question I have been asking myself since I decided to go rescue my friend here.” He nodded towards the sword. “Indeed! I had been watching your escapades for a while and I have been quite impressed. Your execution was flawless.” The mask said to the man, the man responded only with a smile and a shrug. “To think they kicked you out of your home because yo-…” The gentleman’s face grew stern. “Still touchy on that I see. I won’t bring that up my Little Ar-…” Within the blink of an eye, the man was at his feet, sword unsheathed in his hand with the tip pointed at the mask. “Do not say that name. I am not that man anymore… I am just a fool…”

A cackle filled the cave, but it was one of amusement. “Fine fine, Fool. You know, you and I have a lot in common. I have been called many slanderous names as I am sure you have; Foolish, Crazed, Mad. Instead of taking my aggressions out on myself via isolation, I have chosen to embrace them as terms of endearment and tell people of the truth. As should you, my Fool. You currently still have a closed mindset on what people describe as insane. People think that insanity is the result of people losing the proper mentality on life and inability of making correct decisions. Insanity… Madness… it is simply the beginning. You are no longer shackled to what others think is proper or their definitions of correct. When you embrace Madness that is when you are truly able to be free.”

The man had sat down once again, letting the sword lay in his lap as he digested what the mask was telling him. “You sound like you know what you are talking about… but you could just be dancing around the true subject at hand. Why are you here?” Again, the cackle filled the tiny cave. “You are sharp, a lot sharper than the last person I had asked. Very well, Fool, I am the deific incarnation of Madness and I am making my return to the world of Eiran once more. My name is Moxinomal, but my… friends call me Mox. I am requesting that you, Fool, be my voice upon Eiran. Spread my word that I have imparted upon you this night and show others that Madness is the beginning and not the end.”

The Fool tilted his head down to the sword. “What is that, Holden? You’re correct, he does give an interesting option and yes, I did say that my previous mention was complete, but I am still a tad apprehensive.” He paused for a moment, listening intently. “Once again you’re correct, lad, I did show you the proper light and perhaps this… Mox’s light is one that I have been blind to as well…” His eyes turned up to the mask. “Very well… I shall go out in to the world and show people the truth that you have revealed to me.”

“Excellent!” The mask proclaimed in his high pitched, screechy voice. “Now, I can tell that you do not wish your identity to be revealed because of your… part mistake… so I shall leave this mask here so that you may hide the truth, both from yourself and others. Since you don’t want to use your true name, perhaps calling yourself Fool shall be more beneficial then you originally intended.” He was standing once again, sheathing the sword into the scabbard at his side. He tied the mask’s two velvety straps behind his head. “I think the title of The Fool is appropriate, in fact, I think it’s starting to grow on me. Come Holden, we have much work to finish, together again.” He chuckled, as that high toned laugh of insane mirth rung in his ears, stepping out in to the night.

Mox greets Bird! Perhaps you and I can meet each other over a little bit of seeds? Possibly in a bath placed in a nice courtyard?

O-gon-cho, why did you bring this up in front of everyone? If you had spoken to the four individuals privately, no-one would be wondering if there were Four Deities of Darkness, or who they might be.

I will not accuse anyone, whether publicly or privately. And will have it be known if my followers act, it is not at my, or my prophet's, behest. To have that known publicly seems the most direct way to handle this, so I am not back peddling at the end of the current season.

At least, I will not accuse anyone at the present time. I shall see if my followers are a better judge of character than I (which would not surprise me, actually) over time.

Who is this fool that mocks me?

Mox is the god of insanity, or madness. Brid doesn't dislike Mox....so far....

Insanity!!!!

Sanity is over-rated. Many of Brid's followers are unsane.

He'll steal my followers!

Brid will punish Mox if Mox steals Brid's followers.

Thank you for the warm welcome, daughter of the Wench! Perhaps we can become more acquainted; maybe over a nice stone salad? I do not wish my poor reputation to speak ill of my character or my... performance. :D

Relax, my little Birdies, I shall have my intentions known that I would not steal the followers of one who so generously houses the mad. I mean, Outcasts and Madness go together better than venison and sorbet!

As was my intention, Lord War. I'm not in the ground digging business as of late, HAH! Perhaps we can set up a fond brotherly relationship, I've been looking for some new kinship!

Anaya, can you tell us anything about the demon that is in your city? I can't tell if it is destroying your city, or... visiting? You do not appear to be in distress, but it's hard to tell. Is all of Eiran threatened?

Hail Moxinomal. I bid you welcome on your return to Eiran. I cannot say that I know you, yet your presence was ever palpable during my youth. It shall be interesting to have you among us again.

Verdant Lord, Hangrith is a vile threat to Eiran, and all citizens of Port Vitae who do not bow to him are put to death. It is my intention to deal with him once and for all this season.

Finally my fellow deities I would make you aware of the crack in the Ice Wall near Alemanth. When I attempted to heal this wound my power was instead sucked into the Void and the fissure increased in size, although only very slightly. It appears we shall have to look for other ways to seal the Ice Walls against the threat of the Void.

Amplarx! God of Vengeance, I am ever willing to believe that crusades are the work of over-zealous followers, as long as they are recalled. I ask that you do so, for none who hunt my people shall be spared, as even your own creed dictates.

Sister of Fate, I have a similar situation now in Virelle, although I do not yet know the strength of the creature who has appeared there. Should I prove successful against him this season, and Hangrith still threatens in the next, I will offer to do what I can.

Can O-gon-cho Heal the wound in an Ice Wall?

Well, Grey Goddess, you speak as though you've been dealing with this "Hangrith" for a while, so I guess you know what you're doing. Good luck.
