*shrug* Could be the nukes went off before there was space travel.
They know that 200+ skeletons from around the world are all cylons. I imagine they'd know if the skeletons were all from the 12 models. So there's either LOTS more than 12 models, or they're keeping it a secret that the entire planet was populated by the 12 models.

If you don't want to be spoilered or read theories , then don't read below.
WOW!
I think its gonna end up they are all descendants of the 13th tribe, therefore, they are all Cylons.
One thought that occurs to me though, is that the Cyclons were able to tell from the skeletons that they were in fact Cylons, but unknown models. Therefore, if what I say is true, they should be able to look at a dead colonist and determine if they were in fact unknown cylons as well. In the first season, Baltar was trying to make a cylon detector, and failed. SO this presents an issue.
The fact that there were skin jobs 2000 years ago (when they had supposedly been invented after the war 40 years ago) also seems to confirm this theory... all this has happened before, will happen again....
I think that the catalyst in the past society that turns them from human to cylon is ressurrection technology - the ability to be more than human, to take away the threat of death and perfect the body -- this is likely a reason why the war 2000 years ago was fought -- some were denied access to this. Ellen tigh's (paraphrased) comments as she was dying also supports this:
the civilization shown in the flashbacks did show many individuals, so I dont think they were populated by a small number of models, ie 5.
Cara Thrace -- what the hell is she? did figure out, as soon as they came to the airframe I knew she was going to find her body. So she has been ressurected and sent back to the fleet by something -- She knows this, and her lack of memory of actually being on earth is also what happens to cyclons when they ressurect - they only remember up to their death. SO she was ressurected, put into a starship with some implanted instructions, and sent back to the fleet.
Damn! I have to watch that one again.
edit: the director commentary is online, and I just watched it. it has some awesome commentary. my wife thinks I am a dweeb.

Just a theory. But if its true the colonists might ultimately regret blowing up that ressurection hub."Its ok. Its ok. Everything's in place. We will be reborn. together."

I was thinking that the 13th tribe were a rag-tag flotilla of cylons who were escaping extinction on Kobal, that or after a great cylon war on Kobal, the future colonials tracked down the peaceful cylon society and wiped it out. (with some escaping.) SOME remnant of this civilization must exist. Someone is pulling strings, someone is either trying to repeat a pattern, or trying hard to break a pattern. Maybe two forces are trying to do either. The reconciliation in the previous finale is a pattern break. The cycle of violence has met a hitch, some humans and cylons are living in peace. Do the hybrid children represent a break in the cycle or are they a part of it? Are our friends doomed to repeat history or will they be redeemed?
I'm hedging on redemption. It's always a great way to end things. (and after all the work, toil, and pain these people have suffered, the right ending)
Of course, the only constant with the show has been how it consistently defies cliche, formula, and predictability. The show is JUST as fresh now as it was in the first season, which is rarely if ever seen on television.

There are 3 distinct civilizations now.
Earth, Kobal and the 13 Colonies.
Is that at least 3 cycles that the Cylons keep preaching about?
"What has happened before will happen again"?
Awesome show!

I was amazed. They actually managed to stun me. I don't stun. I can't say I've ever been stunned by anything on TV, anyway. But looking at my emotional reaction to Dualla was like probing my lip with my fingers after dental surgery.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

I think the worst part of that for me was that I saw it coming and couldn't do anything but watch.
I'm not quite crazy enough to yell at my TV, but that show has pushed me close several times, and that was one of them.

How so? I always thought D'Anna was apoplogizing to Sam for the rear-kicking he got from a D'Anna model on Caprica? Matter of fact, this was the very thing that led me to assume he was one of the Final Five, before they were even revealed.dlbpharmd wrote:But, that would explain D'Anna's apology to the five she saw in the Temple. Like Sorus, I have more questions than answers.

I'm thinking red herring too.
But it might be Starbuck.
WTF is up with Kara?
Who rebuilt her shiny white Viper?
Is she a Cylon or a Clone?
Doesn't D'Anna know who the last remaining Cylon is?
Do any of her past comments point to Kara?
Did Kara "die" before or after the Resurrection ship was destroyed?
I thought it was before.
Leoben ran away, abandons Kara (whereas he's always fought to remain by her side and always been supportive) after seeing her ....clone? dead Cylon body? and learns what the Hybrid said to Kara.
Why?
He wasn't afraid of Kara after learning she was a Cylon he only got afraid after learning about the Hybrid prophecy.

OK, I see where you're coming from. Just tough to imagine D'Anna apologizing for someone else that she had no control over. It sounded to me like she was apologizing for something she had done personally. I'll have to watch for that my next time through the series.dlbpharmd wrote:I originally thought that D'Anna was apologizing to Tigh for his torture. Now, I can't help but wonder if she was apologizing to Ellen (for her treatment at the hands of Cavill.)
Let's keep in mind D'Anna also told Roslin that the final 5th Cylon wasn't on board Galactica, meaning most likely that they were dead or on the Base Star if they were from Galactica. (Of course Leobon said "Adama is a Cylon" and the closest we have come to that is Sharon being an "honorary Adama" because the Admiral saw her as a daughter, but we already knew Sharon was one from the get-go)High Lord Tolkien wrote:dlbpharmd wrote:Fantastic episode. Kara definitely needs explaining. As far as the ressurection hub, I imagine even if it hadn't been blown up yet (I think you're right, BTW) she still would've been out of range to ressurect anyways.

Of course I'd feel a lot better and maybe take more time to figure these things out if I didn't read once that the writers just make up the details from week to week and that there was no ending planned.
