There's far to many Dues Ex Machina issus with the Chrons, I would at least shadow any characters that will play a part in the plot in a previous film, unlike the Dead from LOTR.

Is it reasonable though to expect every single character appearing in books two through ten to be shadowed? That seems like asking a bit much for me.
You do not hear, and so you cannot be redeemed.
In the name of their ancient pride and humiliation, they had made commitments with no possible outcome except bereavement.
He knew only that they had never striven to reject the boundaries of themselves.

Yes. Two Unfettered play absolutely intricate roles in PTP and I feel that if the peoples of the Land know about them, then the Loresraat would have a clue, so at some point Cov might-there were four total right?

Yeah, but only one is mentioned prior to appearing, and even then only very briefly.
If when Triock took off to the south to find an Unfettered One it was the first time the Unfettered had been mentioned in the entire first chronicles then yeah, I'd find that a little deus ex machina-ish. In this case however, I don't. In fact, I think mentioning the Unfettered One in a previous book just to foreshadow his later appearance would be a little weird - why would any of the characters in Lord Foul's Bane or The Illearth War need to bring up an Unfettered One who listens to the language of the forests?

I see your point. However, it kind of seems that when SRD was writing the story, every time he wasn't sure what to do next, he'd pull an Unfettered out of his hat (except the first one in Andelain).

The last time I made a post on this thread I ended with an hypothesis simply to show how the Chronicles can hold hidden depths, like the tip of an iceberg. As with the Lords; as they uncover and unravel the concealed lore of Kevin's Wards, so the Land becomes richer in character and scope.
I tried to show that if Ahanna had become one of the unfettered ones, could she have lived in a cave and covered the walls with apocalyptic pictures? Not meant for the general public of course.
Which is kind of bizzare, because while I was reading The Illearth War, I wondered what the ramifications would be if Triock had assisted Atairan when she attempted to bring Covenant to the Land. It isn't so crazy if you think about it. He had every reason to wish revenge on Covenant. Perhaps he also felt it was his duty to follow Elena to the Lorestraat. Isn't that why he wore crossed lightning epaulettes!
To conclude - if he did assist Atairan in a botched summoning, is it possible that this was the cause of Trothgards desecration. If so, maybe Kevin Landwaster laid waste the Southern Land's beyond the Retreat. I think the Lords and Elders make translation mistakes in studying Kevin's lore. For instance, Doriendor Corishev 'the masterplace', could quite easily be Doriendor Corishev 'the masterpiece'.

Krazy Kat - you seem to have a deep view of things, which is great...
...but what does any of what you just posted have to do with this thread?
I'm intrigued, but confused?
Trothgard is in the north-east, Triock went south to find the Unfettered in PTP.

In context to the hypothesis, Ahanna's cave would be in the south, and Triock winding up there would see both his cause and effect painted on the walls of the unfettered one's cave.
One more thought - Triock would not necessarily have to be in Trothgard at the hypothetical summoning. Therfore he and Troy would both survive the blast. Now, where would Troy safely fall to a grassy landing I wonder?
