The ROTE spends a fair amount of time laying the groundwork for the overall content of the Last Chrons, in exactly the same manner as the first two chapters of a single book. As a consequence of this unavoidable necessity, ROTE tends to be a bit "plodding & lethargic" at times, in spite of the quality of the authors artistic abilities. Therefore, I think the destruction of both Haven Farm and Kevins Watch serves the following two purposes only, and no other. 1) Because ROTE "reads a bit slowly", destroying them both simply adds a drop of excitement to the process of reading the book , and 2) it does indeed symbolize the end of the overall story (meaning:LFB as the starting point, and "The Last Dark" as the ending point),as previously posted by High Lord Tolkien. Those are the two literary purposes served. I honestly don't think there is any additional significance, or plot-relevance to come, simply because we already have so many threads & factors happening all at once.(Insequents, Jeremiah, Kastenessen, Roger C., etc etc etc). We already have a large amount of "threads & stuff" to keep track of as we read , so I'm saying it's complex enough. Any more , and it gets too complicated. Therefore, as I sit here imaginging how it's all gonna tie together & conclude the story, I just can't see how the destruction of Haven Farm & Kevins Watch is going to have anything to do with the end. Both places signify beginnings, and we are well past the beginning of the Last Chrons.

And besides......maybe Lord Donaldson The Inspirer simply had the irrestistable urge to "just blow s*** up", and gleefully sit back & watch !!! OR.......he's sending all of us a not-so-subtle message...... 8O :!!!: :!!!: Offhand, I'd say SRD probably enjoyed describing the destruction of Foul's Creche as much as we enjoyed reading it.

Question: When was it first mentioned in the Chronicles that white gold was a threat to the Arch?

I'd have to look, but I thought it was early on in LFB when they recite the old legends. If not, then it's when TC realizes at the end of TOT how dangerous he has become to the Arch.

If (let's say) there was no mention of bringing down the Arch in the first Chrons, then what was LF's stated intention for acquiring white gold in the first Chrons?

Exactly, therefore it MUST have been mentioned in the First Chrons somewhere (logically, withih LFB).But, I loaned my copy of the First Chrons to a newbie who's never read this stuff, so my temporary ignorance is in a good cause

Offhand (without reading LFB again) Wasn't it implied when Drool summoned Covenant?
What's this silver looking ring doing on my finger?

My reading indicates that in the first Chronicles LF is trying to goad the Creator into reaching through the Arch to stop LF from making the universe he created into "a hell forever," thus breaking the Arch. This idea comes not only from LF's speech but from Tamarantha's story of the Creation of the Earth in LFB. LF did not see wild magic as a weapon to be used against the Arch itself until the Second Chronicles.

Tamarantha's tale also indicates that the Despiser may have been part of the Creator in the infinity before the beginning of creation. Upon seeing the banes in the Earth, seeing that his perfect creation was spoiled, Despite was cast down to the Earth and took form as the Despiser. So [speculating here] the Despiser is just a rejected aspect of the Creator himself, a "personality" cast off from within his own being.

Yes. Foul says:
In Lord Foul's Bane was wrote:"Soon I will be strong enough to wrest the wild magic from you, and then you will learn to your cost that my contempt is without limit, my desires bottomless."

However, bringing down the Arch wasn't mentioned there or later on. Making the universe a hell forever was mentioned.

If you're saying destroying the Arch didn't come up in LFB, I could agree. If you saying it didn't come up in the First Chronicles altogether, I would have to disagree.
In The Illearth War was wrote:[Mhoram said] "It is clear now that Lord Foul lusts to strike back at his brother, the Creator. And at last, after ages of bootless wars carried on out of malice, out of a desire to harm the creation because he could not touch the Creator, Lord Foul has found a way to achieve his end, to destroy the arch of Time, unbind his exile, and return to his forbidden home, for spite and woe. When the Staff of Law, lost by Kevin at the Desecration, came within his influence, he gained a chance to bridge the gap between worlds - a chance to bring white gold into the Land.

"I tell you simply: it is Lord Foul's purpose to master the wild magic - 'the anchor of the arch of life that spans and masters Time' - a nd with it bring Time to an end, so that he may escape his bondage and carry his lust throughout the universe. To do this, he must defeat you, must wrest the white gold from you. Then all the Land and all the Earth will surely fall."

I didn't really feel anything. I was not surprised...I was annoyed by Anele's Gollum like speakage, had no idea what the thing was that destroyed our home. It was a nice piece to hammer the point home, but a little suspense could have gone a long way...
