A real one- Like he's in the military and he's all important enough to just do it.

I take it as more of "he has trust issues", but I'm not going to heavily pursue him as someone I'm interested in. It's too bad, though, because I think the date went pretty well, otherwise. EDIT- I suppose it could also be an issue of him having power and liking to use it. Blah. Why can't I date someone normal and perfect?

Thanks guys- I'm getting almost unanimous "creepy" from people I ask, which isn't what popped into my mind (just boundary/trust issues). This is why I need my buddies! :)

I feel a bit like an idiot... I just went to a party in the nearby institute, it's a big deal that goes on once every six months and a lot of people always attend. I had a good time, although I was tired from the week... during the party I also got to know a girl, and we talked a bit before her friends whisked her away; later when I was about to leave, I was putting on my jacket in the lobby when she and one of her friends also showed up to pick up their jackets... she approached me saying hi and asking if I was also going home, we chatted another five minutes or so, and then we left - and it didn't occur to me to ask her whether she wanted to do something tomorrow, or if I could have her phone number, until after we parted ways. And now I feel a bit down because she was really nice and I wish I had been a tad bit more attentive :(

There's no way to get in contact with her through friends or other people at the party? Or if you know her name, like through facebook type of things?

Goddamn, I am drunk. Well, not totally drunk. Tipsy, bordering on... Had I had one more drink I'd have gone under. Me and two other friends walked around my scenic subdivision while talking and I kicking back the booze (they did too, of course, but I was the only one to do it while walking; most of their drinking was done standing outside my friend's truck). Hrm. I type quite coherently for a near-drunkard. I'm impressed.

Can anybody read what this post is saying? I can't make it out at all. Well, whatever, Foul. Have a happy VD, or drink a bit more and you'll forget it ever existed.

Xar, sorry, and I've done the same thing thousands of times. I always feel like such an idiot when I do this, but I generally feel like an idiot anyway if I do ask for the number. But I'd much rather feel like an idiot with a number than one sitting by himself. If it is meant to be, you'll run into each other again though. You can actively pursue, but there are two schools of thought - 1) it is charming and the lady will be honored that this happened. 2) It is creepy and the lady will think you are a stalker. I've noticed it usually depends on the age of the person. When people are young and still have romantic ideals, #1 springs to mind first, typically. However, #2 starts being the prevalent thought, say, in the 30's. These people have been burned a few times, and are a bit more flinchy when it comes to someone displaying a heart or emotions. Which tends to mean that they are untrusting and defensive and have some baggage. By 30, if they are charmed by it (#1), then they haven't dated much, and there is usually a very good reason for this. Look for extra toes or antenna sprouting out of their heads.
Seriously, the best thing to do is get the ego boost that they actually gave you their number, and then never call. That way you won't find out that they gave you a made up number.

Because perfect is definitely not normal, at least for a human.

Yes, yes it would be. Still, dating nowadays....it scares me. Background checks; sheesh. But in some ways, I can understand why someone would be that paranoid, when I see some of the shit that goes on in the news. In fact, I haven't dated since I was dating my now ex-wife, almost 20 years ago. I figure if I have all this baggage hanging on me, everybody else my age does too. Still, I don't see me doing a background check before I dated someone; that's what meeting her parents is for.

Wadds: it's unanimous -- I vote "creepy" too, and I'll throw in a "what the hell??!?"

Xar: what Cag said.

So let's see: Magickmaker is in town for an anime convention, which I think I mentioned. She was able to get in with the neurologist yesterday (they had a last-minute cancellation), so I left work early to take her. The doc put her on a new med and told her to transition off the old med (which was working kind of okay but not perfectly). Here's hoping the new stuff works better.... We spent the rest of the afternoon collecting the new prescription, getting oil for her bike chain, and grabbing dinner, and then I drove her back to the convention and went to a party and got home *way* too late. This morning, I had Czech class. The school we rent for our classes is closed for the holiday weekend; they must've shut off the heat to the classroom buildings to save money because it was freakin' freezing in our room. Nearly everybody kept their coats on for the whole two hours. I cranked up the heat as soon as I got in the car, and it still took me half an hour to thaw out.

Then I got the car inspected (only two weeks late!). Then I came home and fell asleep on the couch. I woke up about two hours later when the phone rang. It was Magickmaker, with kind of a weird question, which I had just started to answer when her signal died; I had to look at my phone to make sure she had indeed called me and I hadn't just hallucinated the whole exchange.

I feel woozy this morning. I fasted yesterday (yet still ran 4 miles) to conclude what had to be the worst week of my life so far. To be optimistic this week can only get better! (Quick, someone hand me a glass that's half full. )

I feel a lot better today. Not completely cured, but definitely a marked improvement from last week.

I've given it a bit more thought, and have come to realize it's possible he's an ex-watcher who worried you might be a figment of my imagination. His first name didn't happen to be danlo, did it?

So I've just finished my first lot of rocks (wacko!) = I'm taking the day off today to relax and do other stuff I'm supposed to have done weeks ago.

Tuesday mornings I go for a walk with my friend Fe who has just got herself a new girlfriend. Her gf loves Buffy and...and Stephen R. Donaldson! How much more perfect can that get (I've just been laughing with Fe saying "I approve!" ...finally she's got herself a woman that I can have a conversation with!).

Well, the new stuff is working better so far. Not completely yet, but I'm still transitioning onto it. However, the neurologist warned me that it might make me a little spacey for the first few days that I'm on it, and it's definitely been doing that. I've been alternating between having serious ADD moments, and moments where I'm almost traveling through a fog. It's been an interesting couple of days.

Presents rock! :)

I'm feeling whiny today. I thought I'd kicked this cold, but then last night, my nose started doing its impression of a faucet again. All I want to do today is sleep. Waah.
