ah...

But when I put together the Index of Recipes, I went through all of The Galley's posts, even ones from before I joined. That thread deserved a Watchy!

aww... u guys are so sweet... :D ok, here's the tale:

We set out on Monday morning, got all our stuff and money and more stuff (more along the lines of chips and sodas than pies, unfortunately) and headed west, on I-20, no less. We stayed on I-20 for about a thousand miles, through Georgia, Alabama (one hubcap lost), Mississippi (another hubcap lost), Louisiana, and Texas (lost one and ripped the other one off at a rest stop). We spent Monday night in the car, which was great if you like curling up in small spaces like I do, but sucked if you need your space to stretch out in, as Trae does. We drove and drove, getting really hot and sweaty and stinky, since Texas was really, REALLY hot. (At one point, Trae asked me "Do you smell ass?" and I was like, "Yeah" and he was like "We're gonna give the car back to Momma when she comes out here. It'll serve her right" and we laughed until some jerkoff in front of us wanted to turn illegally. It was like the further west we went, the crazier the driving became, but the gas station attendants got a lot nicer. Weird.

Anyway, in Odessa, Texas, we were looking for a WalMart to get some supplies at, and then a hotel, because he was bone tired and I don't drive, and there was no way we were spending the night in that ass-smelling car. Unfortunately, the tail light (which we had covered nicely and LEGALLY with reflective red tape) caught the attention of a policeman, and he pulled us over. Trae's mother had registered the car as stolen and registered him as a missing person. They took him to a youth detention center, sent me to a hotel in a nicer, less crack-tainted part of town, and called his mother to come from Georgia to pick us up.

Once she got there, the next day, Trae told her that he didn't want to live with her anymore, and we got on a bus and came here. It's been very, very traumatic, but we're here now, and I've already got a job to keep me from being bored until I join the Coast Guard. You're reading the post of the chick that may very well become a captain. As in, the captain of a vessel. I get to go directly into officer training! :D Imagine, me doing border patrol! Border patrol actually came on the bus and asked everyone if they were American citizens. Trae and I are about as white as it gets. If we got any whiter, we'd be clear. It was funny. We started giggling and the border patrol guy kind of realized he'd asked a pointless question.

Oh, and it's not Maricopa! It's Arizona City, which really IS a village, but it's less than ten miles from Casa Grande, which is big enough for my tastes. There are malls and outlets, so I'm good. There's also a little restaurant called Filiberto's, or "Filthy Burrows", which you should not eat at unless you're going to visit some friends or relatives that you don't really like later. Poor, poor Trae. Thank the gods I'm a picky eater.

I forgot to pack my shoes! 8O This is awful. I have just the one pair of slip on black and white ocean pacifics with skulls on them. I feel naked without my four inch wedges, my vans, my worlds, my other four inch wedges with the bows on them, my three inch wedges, my other vans, my boots, my other slightly more comfortable boots, my flip flops, my other flip flops...

Yeah... Gonna go back later when Trae's mom signs over custody to his dad and get the rest of my stuff. It's okay, though. There are bookoos of shoe stores here! :D I love shoes.

So yeah. Other than the traumas, things are pretty good here. I got a lot of pictures, and i guess I'll upload them somewhere and put in a link. Yay! We're awesome.
