you are correct! i am sick of having to do other people's work. i have my own job. i hardly ever get to do just my job on any given day. today i had to babysit the new guy because he had words with rank in the building. the new guy is a horse's ass. he lost rank because he can not do the job.

How come when you pre-pay for your gas, and it slows down as it approaches the amount you paid, it has to freakin' slow down, like, $.20+ before it gets there!!! I swear it slowed down 10 cents before when I was a kid. Now, for reasons of logic that escape me, I have to watch it jolt to slow speed at $9.79, and watch
$9.80
$9.81
$9.82
$9.83
$9.84
$9.85
$9.86
$9.87
$9.88
$9.89
$9.90
$9.91
$9.92
$9.93
$9.94
$9.95
$9.96
$9.97
$9.98
$9.99
YEAH!! $10!!!!

Ridiculous!!!

I visited a new ssub place today and ordered my artichoke/olive/provolone cheese sub without the red peppers that normally come with it. I get it to go, and when I am 5 miles away that they put the peppers on it. So I ate it, and now my stomach hurts. Peppers are not my friends, and I don't know if I want to go back to that place again.

That's because they hire dropouts as service staff - they don't LISTEN to what you ask!

I once walked back to the chinese restaurant I ordered takeaway from because they made my dish BEEF instead of SEAFOOD...and they had to give me what I wanted (plus they made up for it with three spring rolls).

Sometimes it IS all about getting what you want...

ok..........today (and every day) i am hating those idiots that are absolutely sure we all must hear their discussions on the cell phone. Nothing i enjoy more than standing on a line at the bank and have to listen to to some idiot girl loudly, while cracking her gum, discussing her lousy nights adventures in bed.

anyway this is what i did...... i ordered a portable cell phone signal blocker 8)

they are illegal.......but who cares.

It drives me nuts too when people in public yammer into their cell phones about the most banal things in their lives for all to hear. And like aTOMiC said elsewhere, you can't just shut your ears like you can shut your eyes.

I thought of a pet peeve: the inane phrase "beyond the imagination" typically seen in ads for sf/fantasy books or movies. "A world beyond the imagination!"

Well, no, someone obviously has imagined it, since it's right there in front of us.

...they can't refer to the definite, "your imagination"...they have to refer to indefinite, "the dild...err, imagination"...

Happened to me on the train today. And the woman's voice was really annoying too. Then a man sitting nearby made a call, and then someone else down the carriage made a call, then someone else got on the train in the middle of a call...all within ten minutes, on a train occupied by maybe twenty people. The first woman was the worst culprit though; she was talking about things like the weather, and she just went on and on and on, long after all the others had completed their calls, until I got sick of the sound of her voice and moved to the next carriage.

i bought a portable cell phone blocker. put it on your key chain. it is a blast! knocks the call right off. 8) it's illegal in nyc except for law enforcement. but it is so so fun. i only use in case of extreme annoyance

People who say they'll do something and then back out at the last minute.

One of my co-workers is famous for her "weasel clause". Two weeks ago, she said she was going to do Weight Watchers this time. Last week, when she didn't show up to register, I e-mailed her; she replied that she was "not invoking my weasel clause." This week, when she didn't show up again, I called her; she said she mistyped last week and really meant to say that she was *now* invoking her weasel clause. Trouble is that I was responsible for keeping the head count, and I was including her based on what she'd told me last week.

I should've known better than to trust her. She does this all the time.

Most people. I can't be bothered with them.

As I drove home from the supermarket, I turned the near-hairpin corner into the street next to mine, and two teenagers were just standing the road. Not by the pavement, which would be annoying enough, actually in the middle of the lane. And it's not a quiet street. I couldn't go around them because the street's quite narrow, so I rolled up quite close to them and they just stood there. After a few seconds I sounded my horn and they glanced at me then continued to stand in the middle of the bloody road.

What. The. @&*%?!

So this morning on the Metro, I'm sitting in my seat in a nearly empty car (note "nearly empty" -- that's crucial to the story), doing the Sudoku in the paper and minding my own business, when this chick sits down next to me.

I glance around. There are at least five or six totally empty seats surrounding us in the car. And she sits in an already occupied seat. *Why* would someone *do* that? Do they believe we must all clump together to survive or something?

So then, as if that's not bad enough, she pulls out her cell phone and dials a friend, and proceeds to have a conversation. She wasn't loud, but still -- she sits down in my seat when there are tons of perfectly fine, perfectly empty seats nearby, and then proceeds to make a call.

So I moved. (Was that antisocial of me?)

That's pretty funny, ali. Probably justified as well. I was recently chewed out by a woman on the T during rush hour traffic downtown Boston about a week ago for talking to my friend on a subway car full of tired commuters. It was brutal.

I never understood the anger against cell phone use in public places, to me it's like talking with someone there. And you know they're talking on the cell phone, not like those blue-tooth head sets which always remind me of one thing:
