For some time, I've been trying to think of someone who matches my my mental image of Warden's physical appearance, regardless of talent. A couple of days ago, it came to me. If we assume that acting talent could be transplanted from someone else, Warden, in my mind, would be...Henry Rollins. Rollins is all but identical to my mental picture of Warden's appearance. Well, except for the tattoos and the second eye.

There is only ONE man who should play Warden, Roger:

Maybe so, but the one man who looks like Warden, for me, is Rollins.

Okay, I've tried to make Cruise work as Nick in my mind, but it just isn't working. My vote stands with whatshisname from Lost.

Am currently in favor of Michelle Forbes as Sorus.

Michelle Forbes would make a great Sorus.

You know, I was initially repulsed by the idea of Cruise as Nick, but the more I think about, I have to admit I think it works pretty well. For some weird reason, I hate Nick more than Angus, so that helps. Nick's and Cruise's egos are similar too, and I do think Cruise would do a good job acting the part. Watching Cruise...err, I mean Nick, die would then be rewarding as hell.

I question whether he has the emotional range necessary to play Nick - not saying he doesn't - I will freely admit that I am not much of a moviegoer and it has been a long time since I have seen him in anything.

That'd be cos he's too frakking SHORT to be Nick!! Doesn't have the 'long limbed grace'...dude needs to be at least a sixfooter, not a midget like Cruise!

I just thought of who would have been the perfect Warden Dios: Orson Wells --- the younger version. The commanding presence .. the voice ... yep, for me, he would be the perfect 'fantasy' casting as Warden..

(Anne Hathaway)

And I had something a Morn Hyland inspiration

(Selma Blair)

Although now that I think about it, age her 15 years or so, and you have exactly what I imagine Sorus Chatelaine to look like.

If we need a taller guy to play Nick, an alternative to Holloway might be Hugh Jackman...he's at least 6 ft right? Can't remember if he's been suggested before. (then again the audience might think his scratches may have been formed by a "Wolverine" accident, lol)

My pick for Warden Dios: Mitch Pileggi. To me, he just has that commanding look. www.imdb.com/media/rm3027081728/nm0683379

I think that Billie Piper could pull off Morn...she's young and beautiful enough to make someone like Angus go over the edge, but I also think she's talented enough to pull off a character as flawed and complicated as Morn. www.imdb.com/media/rm1808963328/nm0684877

I'm undecided about everyone else, although I will say this about Tom Cruise as Nick: Hell no! I don't hate Cruise (I've enjoyed every movie I've seen him in...so far), I just don't think he has what it would take to do Nick justice.

Angus: James Gandolfini
Morn: Uma Thurman
Nick: Daniel Day-Lewis

Only Gandolfini is the right age for the character today—I always thought of Angus as a man in his forties or fifties. I really have no idea who could play Davies. As for some of the supporting cast:

Hashi: Jeffrey Combs
Warden: Ed Harris
Holt: Jon Voight
Min: Anjelica Huston
Dolph: Yaphet Kotto
The Bill: Bruce Spence

Again, many of these are too old now.

One thing is for sure: though the studios would push for it, a PG-13 Gap series would be absolutely out of the question. Depending on how faithfully TRS was adapted, even an R rating might not be enough for the first film. The book is definitely NC-17 material. But I personally could not stand seeing those scenes actually portrayed onscreen.

*snigger* I'm sorry, I just struggle to take Billie Piper seriously. I remember too much of her music career - including being caught miming her songs at a festival when the CD skipped.

I happened to see her in the new Dr Who series before I ever knew she was a singer, so I have a slightly different view. I agree however, that her music (her 1st album in particular) was...classic teen angst, for lack of a better term. I even managed to find a couple of her music videos...and all but one made me cringe. :? I will freely admit, however, to really liking her song Walk of Life from her 2nd album. I've also watched the two PBS Masterpiece Theater movies she was in. After she left Dr Who, she went on to, um...other projects: Secret Diaries of a Call Girl. 8O Besides, I, uh...may have a, uh....slight crush on her...
