I'm in the "how the hell are they going to wrap this up in three episodes??" crowd. It was frustrating to watch that episode knowing that nothing was actually happening.

I really hope they have something good up their collective sleeves...

I think that's really the only answer that makes sense. Since "this has all happened before", and the goal of the Cylons is to become human. I think they succeeded several cycles ago, and each successive Cylon strives for (and achieves) the same goal.

I share your concerns about how they will tie everything up. However, if they really know wherethey're going, it's not neccesarily as difficult to tie up quickly as we might think, so we can hope for the best. I think some small stuff will be deliberately held open ended as a "hook" for the Caprica prequel. For example, Daniel will probably be revealed in BSG, but, we will know only surface things about him until his arc is revealed in Caprica (perhaps)

Random theory time!

Starbuck is not Daniel's daughter.

Leoben thought she was, but something he saw on Earth made him realize otherwise.

Starbuck destroyed Earth. She had highly sophisticated resurrection technology that still exists in range of Earth. This allowed her to replicate her ship and clothing as well as her body. She then followed the Five to the colonies intending to kill them, but <plot device> brainwashed her into believing she was human.

I don't know where Daniel fits in.

Baltar isn't a Cylon. He lived among them for too long. They would have figured it out. They certainly would have noticed if he was Daniel.

In fact, the whole series took place inside Baltar's head. The last scene of the finale will be set inside a mental hospital on Caprica, with a conversation between a couple of guards standing outside a padded cell...
Guard 1: "So who does he think he is this week, the President of the Colonies?"

Guard 2: "Nah, he's all depressed because his harem ditched him."

Guard 1: "Remember the time he thought he survived being nuked?"

Guard 2: "He used to be more entertaining."

(Cut to cartoon of RDM laughing manically.)
Eh, no idea. I'm stuck. They'd better explain something this week.

Watch for the Newhart cameo.

It's not a good sign that all the regular fans here who are on record as loving the show are in full mock mode for the ending.
Myself included!

That means it's either going to suck or it's going to be spectacular.

I went back and did some research, and read an interview by Dirk benedict done in the early 90's. It was pretty cool. His was supposed to be a small part, but they liked his style -- he was supposed to be a hero, but his portrayal was that he was a bad boy, preferring women cigars and cards to fighting for the human race, although, when pressed, he was a bad ass. The trademark cigar was his idea, and he was told to get rid of it, even threatened, then fans of the show started sending him boxes of cigars, so the network hyped it.

Its cool, and a little sad how much Richard Hatch put into reviving the series. he even created a new trailer called Second Coming, which you cant get on the internet due to SAG by laws. His vision never came true, and although he was a consultant and eventually an actor on the new show, I wonder how he felt about it. He did write 5 novels set in the BSG Universe, all dealing with Galactica. I havent read them, though.

Dirk B went on record as saying he disliked the new show -- a bright and upbeat show turned into a dark, depressed show.

All Along the Watchtower led the Final Five to Earth (more or less) and Hera drew the notes for it.

Anyone think this is going to lead to something much bigger, or you think it just is what it is?

And what's with all the Opera House stuff? We still haven't seen much played out with that storyline

Dirk B can kiss my ass. The current BSG is way better than that old 70s crap.

Sindatur, the only recent reference to the Opera House was the cover of the Thrace album that Helo gave to Starbuck last week. I can't remember the first name of the artist, but the last name was Thrace, and the title was "Live from the Opera House."

Don't know the relevance, just thought I'd mention it.

Oooh, that's right, that's probably why I connected the two, LOL, and didn't even realize it.

Kara's dad was named Diedle or something like that, I believe

I was at least somewhat serious about my Starbuck theory.
Kara Thrace will lead the human race to its end.

She is the herald of the Apocalypse, the harbinger of death.
All this has happened before and will happen again.
Both the Guardian Hybrid and Leoben know something about her that scares them.

Whatever the explanation is, it's going to be something a little more ominous than "Eh, she's half Cylon."

My annoyance is that they still have so much to explain, but they're filling episodes with frivolous side stories.

It would be nice if they explained the Opera House. Maybe there's something there that will vindicate Roslin. I can't imagine what stunning revelations they could make regarding Hera at this point, but maybe (hopefully) they will surprise us.

We're due for a surprise.

We're due for a non-stop oh-my-gods rollercoaster of an episode.

I'm not really sure what to think.

It looked like it might be going somewhere, but they basically told us things we already knew.

It was nice to see the 'Cylon homeworld,' after all the vague references. I do wonder why it doesn't have any resurrection tech built in.

Will someone please just shoot Baltar already?

Yup - another list of non-answers. Well, now we know Kara isn't a cylon - she's an angel. *sigh*

Shooting Baltar wouldn't do any good - he's a cylon (I'm sticking to that until the end <grin>). Of course, that *would* give us an answer we can use - seeing him resurrect somewhere after being offed on Galactica.

The only thing that makes this series sound like it's coming to an end is that they're abandoning Galactica.

Oh - and did you read in SciFi magazine (or elsewhere) that the end is NOT the end? They have filmed a two-hour called something like "The Plan." They said that it's aimed at answering the question "what was the cylon's plan that's mentioned in the opening?" Felix (Alessandro somthing?) said that he by chance ended up in the very last shot of BG ever filmed. I think he said he was with Grace Park and a body double (didn't say who's) - they were tearing down all the other sets and destroying them. They got through a short clip, then did the same to their set.
And then the ravens pecked out his eyes.

Nah, that was their new base of operations. "The Colony" was abandoned when the team got there to look for Hera.

A-frakkin'-men! Not only is he nothing but annoying as hell, but I don't believe a thing he says. Which leads me to:

Unless Baltar is lying. Could be a dead blonde body with fake dog tags. I'm not saying that explains anything. We saw her die and everything, right?
