Post by Lord Mhoram »

The New England Patriots have won the past 12 weeks in a row, and were undefeated at home this season! Two more victories at Gillette, and we're in the Super Bowl, for an '02 repeat, baby! :) :D 8) :D

Mhoram, the Patriots are going down. They're primed and ready to stumble in the playoffs.

Here's my scenario:

Denver has Indy's number - they repeat their earlier victory and knock the Colts out of the playoffs.

Tennessee versus Baltimore, doesn't matter, because whichever one comes to Arrowhead loses - my boys are invincible at home.

Denver stuns New England in the divisional round. So the AFC Championship game comes to Kansas City and the Chiefs edge out the Broncos to go to the Super Bowl.

Wrong. If Denver gets by Indy, the Pats will kill them almost as bad as they will kill Indy. You better pray to God that both Tennesse AND Baltimore lose their game, because Either will run over KC. The only suspense these playoffs hold is on the NFC side.

Rodan, have you noticed how many games the Pats won by close margins? They are a very good team, no doubt about it, but unbeatable, I don't think so.

They are so ripe for a letdown, or even just a bad break . . . and I think it will happen in the playoffs.

Well, it won't happen unless the AFC seriously improves over the next three weeks. The beat Indy in Indy. KC has no defense compared to them. Tenessee probably won't be able to limp that far. Baltimore can't pass. Denver probably won't limp that far, either. I know it's just my opinion, and I respect yours too. I just don't agree that KC is that good. I don't think I would want to be the guy hoping the other team has a letdown because I know deep down that's the only way my team will get to the Superbowl.

I like the Patriots uniform colors.

You're correct, that I don't believe the Chiefs can beat New England in New England. But I do believe there are other teams who might surprise them there. And I don't believe any team can beat my boys in Arrowhead.

Ah, well. As they say, that's why they play the games. :cross:

Very true. I'm still blown away by the Arizona and Detroit games.

dAN,

What happened to St. Louis? It looks like Philly does end up with homefield which makes a Philly NE SuperBowl much more likely. The Rams on the road, away from the fast track in St. Louis, are extremely vulnerable. As Roland stated...you just never know with the NFL...That's why it's the best sports league in the world!

I'm not 100% sure Philly won't fold like they did last year. I hear one of their RB's is out. I don't know if the Rams will win there, or if Green Bay will surprise us all and win out. I suppose Carolina could win a few, too. in fact, the only teams I don't think will go anywhere are Dallas and Seattle.

It's absolutely amazing that the two teams with homefield advantage throughout the playoffs, Philly and New England, lost big in their opening games, and were 2 and 2 at one point. The Eagles only lost once or twice since then, and the Patriots have not lost again.

It will be fascinating to see if these teams can hold up against playoff intensity. It's a whole 'nother game out there in January. :P
