Game of the Year, 2008?

Post by jacob Raver, sinTempter »

What's your pick? I think this is easily the greatest year gaming has ever seen, I mean, holy crap, Louis...this is the list that WON'T fit?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Other possible options, not limited to:
- World of Goo
- Professor Layton and the Curious Village (DS)
- Mario Cart Wii
- God of War: Chains of Olympus (PSP)
- Resistance 2
- Braid
- Galactic Civilization 2
- Dawn of War 2
- Call of Duty: World at War
- Rock Band 2
- Spore
- The World Ends With You (DS)
- No More Heroes
- Prince of Persia
- Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
- Crysis: Warhead
- Fable 2
- Guitar Hero World Tour
- Far Cry 2
- Left 4 Dead
-

Okay, this is getting ridiculous, but still - if you pick one of the Others, please drop a post with the name of it, and if any reach "Top 8" level of votes, I'll redo the poll, Tx.

I voted Fallout 3. Grand Theft Auto IV comes a close second, followed by Twilight of the Arnor.

How can you list (not in the poll) Dawn of War II? It came out this year.

I don't think it has a chance of winning, going up against the like of Fallout 3, GTA 4 and Metal Gear...RTS', like RPGs have a smaller following, but Fallout 3 crosses over to the A/A fans somewhat because of the 3D representation and FPS views...(IMO)...but icould be wrong...

...so I listed DoW2 as an Option, and I just put GC2 on the list, awesome suggestion...

I know there are Melee fans who don't even like Brawl, but for me it was the game of the year because it offered the most fun w/ friends opportunities. It is really great having a group of "dedicated" smash players so that I can play at least 2 or 3 matches, w/ 4 human players, every day.

The game I actually enjoyed the most this year was La Mulana but that was released in '05.

Why wouldn't they like it? What are the differences?

Metal Gear Solid 4, only because I love the Metal Gear universe with a fierce abandon, its characters and the entire aesthetic it presents. MGS3 was by far my favorite, though, but 4 satisfyingly tied the Solid series together.

Out of the games in both lists, the only one I've played is The World Ends With You. I have Fallout 3 but haven't played it yet. I think it'd be silly for me to vote, heh.

Yep. It's just sitting there on my chair. People tell me it's wonderful, but I know nothing about it, so I don't really have any motive to play it urgently.
