So you're saying that comic books are to graphic novels as beer is to wine? In the comparison, both are alcoholic beverages but wine should be of higher quality in the same way that CBs and GNs use the same format but GNs should be better?

Not necessarily better...the process of creating the art, inking, coloring, the glossier paper they tend to use many times,...I'd gather the artists have more time and money behind the GN vs any particular issue of a reg. month to month comic...

Because its it's own book, most of the stories written for the GN format are complete and whole while comics go issue to issue, some limited most not...

Doesn't mean a GN is always better...in fact the best GNs I've read were compilations of a certain run within a reg. month to month comic book...mostly Frank Miller's stuff...

Yeah, I know it's from a comic book. BFD.
The movies I enjoy most are those that allow me to forget, if just for a little while, that I'm watching a movie. Not once during 300 could I forget that I was watching cinema made for its own sake--and I knew its source was a CB, not history.

Now, I can suspend my disbelief for a lot of cinema, but I couldn't get past the trappings--the workout warrior actors, Xerxes freak-show entourage, and the Elephant Man as traitor.

Yeah, that's a really good way of putting it.

I'm sorry, but every time you post something like this my mind uncensors it automatically, with hilarious results :)

That's funny.

FWIW, we don't have a filter here. Which is funny, because this is the only forum I belong to that doesn't censor the word "Honda".

Honda? Seriously?

I've had a major problem trying to type Dick Van Dyke on many forums, but, Honda? The ones that are really fun are the ones that the filter's messed up and it blends words together so, there are certain words you can't use next to each other (Ex: Octopus Symbol or Can't Watch would get censored)

For whatever reason, every motorcycle forum I belong to (and not just the Harley-specific ones) censors "Honda". Go figure.

What's really funny is that there are movies coming out (9 and District 9 to name just two) that I'm much more excited about than any listed in the poll :/

I'm still waiting for the movies I listed :? In about a month though, I'll be able to see and talk about Inglorious Basterds  In the meantime, I share Rigel's sentiment with regards to District 9... don't know about 9, though.

Invictus (previously called "The Human Factor", I believe) comes out on my birthday.... which is almost the end of the year...

Heh, these are the only two I've seen this year, too. District 9 does look interesting, though; maybe I'll see it too.

went and saw Drag me to Hell last night, it was a riot - there was a preview of District 9 before the movie showed, and it looks great ...
