Good to know -- maybe I'll buzz back up to Santa Fe after the next E-fest in Albuquerque. ;)

On Saturday I beat my brother in Monopoly (rare occurance). Then he taught me how to use his Xbox 360, and we conquered the Galaxy in SW Battlefront 2 in just over 3 hours.
On Sunday my family celebrated my birthday early because of my class schedule on my actual birthday (Mar. 31). Yummy dinner out, some neat presents, and turtle cheesecake! :)

I'll be upgrading my First Aid Certificate all weekend at the local hospital... sigh. Lots of CPR and mouth to mouth practise... too bad I have to practise on a dummy and not a cute doctor.

I am spending the weekend in the country, so no internet access. Using my telescope, reading, and maybe watching some dvds.

Tomorrow is our last Czech class of the semester, which means a yummy potluck. :)

Then I'm driving down to the girls' school to see the spring musical, "Chicago." Magickmaker volunteered herself onto the stage crew, so of *course* Mom has to go. ;)

You can learn a lot from a dummy.

I got tattooed this weekend! After 10 years of wanting one, I finally did it. And now I want lots more.

Going to a remote village this weekend. A friend is getting married so her beau has to visit her relatives, bringing traditional gifts like salt, vegetables, spices, meat, and a box full of cloth in order to get their blessing. Should be interesting. The village is so out in the bush, a bus (using the term loosely) goes there only once a week. Needless to say, I won't be on the internet this weekend. :)

Well, my dad and step-mother were coming up to visit this weekend, but they cancelled due to the possibility of snow, which I doubt will come.

Bloody weather.

WOW elephants !!!! that would have been soooo cool!!!! I thought tsetse flies were a health risk, or is that a myth??

I spent the day at the RSPCA animal shelter where I am training to be a volunteer adoption officer. It was a day of very high highs and very low lows. I had to nurse a possum that had been hit by a car. His spine and back legs were shattered and he died before he could be euthanised. I was devastated.... poor little thing  But later, I helped 3 abandoned kittens and 2 dogs find new loving homes so that made me feel a little better.

I also fell in love with a gorgeous 8 yr old red burmese boy cat called Laurent. He was big and beautiful and sooky and very talkative.... exactly how I like my men :D

I will be returning there tomorrow for another training day... and I cant wait!!!!!!

You can find me at the beach. I'll be the one with the sweet new bikini and a mojito. And a couple books. And an iPod full of "This American Life."

Didja miss me? I survived the backpacking trip. It was supposed to be a 9(ish)-mile trip -- up the mountain, down the mountain, camp overnight, then three miles of more-or-less flat hiking back to the cars on Sunday. Well. I got up the mountain okay, and down the mountain okay. Then we got to the part where we were supposed to ford the creek to get to our campsite. Except the creek was running too high. So we had to traipse back up the mountain a ways to get to a different campsite. Spent the night there. Overnight, it started to rain. Then we had to get out the same way we came in -- up the mountain, then down. So the 9-mile trip turned into something closer to an 11-mile trip, plus I had to climb a mountain both days.

Remarkably, I'm not terribly sore. The worst part is a pain in my left hip, which is either due to hoisting myself over all the downed trees, or arthritis. :P
