And by 2013, 1 TB discs!!!

That's more than most of our hard drives hold, I imagine, on a single portable disc. I can't even imagine why you'd need a Blu-ray with that much storage. VR?

the only thing i can think of that would be good for something like that is backup and downsizing your movie collection... possibly a library of movies within one disk, and with the size of computer HDs now we need an easy method of backup... remember using 28 floppies to back up , then it was 28 CDs...and as it is now i will have to use 28 DVDs to back up my HD...and with my new Imacs 640 gb hd a 1tb rewritable blueray would come in handy for complete backups to one disk.

really could have used one of these today... It took me 36 (4.7 gb) dvd-r disks to back up my external Hds
