We don't know the time when they saw the statue. That was "when" the well was gone (Sawyer was holding the rope that Locke used to climb down the well). Then Locke turned the wheel and they wound up in '74 (3 years later Jack, Kate, et al arrive), with the well back but plugged.sindatur wrote:Yes, we have lots of Egyptian references in LOST. The counter in the swan station after it reached zero, had heiroglyphs referencing death or something, the 4 toed statue appeared to be either Anubis or the Goddess of Fertility Tewetek or something like that (And somewhere along the line conceiving and giving birth on the island becomes deadly (apparently after the statue is destroyed since it's still standing in 1977 and it appears conceiving and giving birth on the island is still safe). So, yea, Temple has Egyptian Glyphs as well, and a picture of Anubis, I believe.ItisWritten wrote:Were those Egyptian hieroglyphics? I'm not an archaeologist, but it looked like it, which would put smoky's age at over 5000 years.
How old is Richard? It seems he's survived all these years by not challenging the Others' "leaders". At least not directly.
Which brings me to Lost wild theory #4332--we've seen the island bounce people around in time. What if Richard is one of those, and he hasn't aged because he's not in his time? Which would also imply he's from the future--post 2004.
Applying this logic to Kate, Jack, Hurly et al., they won't have aged either by the time they live past their 30 years on the island, provided, of course, they survive. We won't see them in the present (where Sun is waiting for Jin) until the writers reveal what they did in the past anyway.
Come to think of it, this scans with Malik's spoilerIf this is remotely true, it sure makes things easier for the make-up people. Jack's beard was bad enough.Spoiler
about a scene from the final season already being shot.
I'm not sure about Time travelling preventing aging. I'm thinking Richard is an Egyptian, and somehow that's why he isn't aging.
I did say "wild theory".

Richard certainly could have lived since the bronze age, but that doesn't explain why he's still alive. Yes, the island could be the reason, but the why is still not there, and we're seeing a lot whys answered lately. Maybe there won't be one but ...
I have more crazy time travel theories, but I think I'll wait until this season plays out. The season-ending 2-parter, The Incident, could give us an idea about the pregnancy issue. Hmm ... could that be connected to Widmore being booted?

Well, Ben certainly didn't look happy to be spared.wayfriend wrote:That was my thinking. Anubis and Smokey are buds.
Dollars to donuts Ben can't resist double-crossing Locke and gets ... smoked.

Here's a question I'm not sure we can answer. Did Locke awaken after, or before Christian told Sun where Jin was and to wait for Locke?

I've never seen Smokey wearing clothes, so I guess it is a nudist.sindatur wrote:
And who knows, Smokey may end up being Anubis
Oh, sorry, you said Anubis. Nevermind.
So....what was the point of have Caesar on the show again? Simply to watch him die? I don't like them introducing characters only to knock them off.
I was so worried that Ben would be killed off. He's such a jerk, but absolutely the life of the party. And my newest favorite character will be around next week - Miles.
Can anyone tell me where the hell Daniel is? Hopefully he'll re-emerge at some point again.

But is he really dead? I didn't care for him. You never know...Alex is dead, we pretty much know that. Maybe Faraday's teaming up with Frank. Miles will be a very cool character-he's definitely a spy, but for whom????

Last we saw Daniel he was at the wallgiving warnings to Dr. Chang (although don't know if that was the present Daniel that travelled back in time with the island, or another time period version of him in the past)Cagliostro wrote: Can anyone tell me where the hell Daniel is? I think he was avaoiding Dharmaville, so he wouldn't influence little Charlotte
Well, many of us called it as soon as Chang was shown with a baby and Miles' nose started bleeding, and now we know.
Lots of numbers references again last night:
316 on the microwave
Room 4
top of fence formed a 4
Key underneath a bunny ( 8 )
Numbers being pounded into the Swan Station construction
And, my DVD recorder even got in on it. After transferring the fist set of scenes to DVD, while it was copying it went 4%, 8%. And then when it finished copying that set of scenes, there was 3 hours and 16 minutes of record time left on the DVD <cue Twilight Zone music>
And once again we hear the question "Do you know what's in the shadow of the Statue"

I'm imaging the statue is the 4 toed statue, and Smokey's Temple is probably what's in it's shadowLord Foul wrote:I heard that question in the show and it sounded so surreal I felt as if it were breaking the fourth wall... Well, we still don't know exactly what Smokey is (And probably won't until at least halfway through next season), so even if it is Smokey, and is predictable, there's bound to be more to the context.Lord Foul wrote:Oh yeah, I know that. I kinda hope it's more than Smokey though. Kind of too predictable.

After last week's Ben episode and this week's Miles, with very little of the basic plot moving forward, I'm getting this feeling that the pieces are being set in place for the final cliffhanger. We're getting a lot of answers to some old questions, but we--I--don't know where they're going. I kind of like it that way, so long as I get something to chew on for the next 7+ months.
So, what is the Incident (title of the season ender)? Is it tied to the hatch (Swan) construction? Little Ben returning from the Others, with no memory of being shot? Something our cast of time-travelers does to explain why he/she came back to the island?
And why are they making us wait 2 weeks???

May Sweeps is why we have to wait two weeks. Of course, they could have scheduled the Finale Part 1 and 2 to be shown over a two week period, rather than a two hour finale. Me, I prefer the special going into the final few episodes (which also serves as a catch up for those who missed something during the rest of the season)ItisWritten wrote:After last week's Ben episode and this week's Miles, with very little of the basic plot moving forward, I'm getting this feeling that the pieces are being set in place for the final cliffhanger. Most definitely pieces are being put into place for the cliff hanger. Rousseau mentioned an incident, and I believe (as Hurley alluded to last night) that there was an incident in the Swan that led to the button pushing. And of course, the Dharma extermination/poisoning I believe has been referred to as an incident (or assumed by fans to be). These may very well all be tied together in a tight little bow.

Ben's coup won't happen for several years. I have this suspicion that the Losties "purpose" in the past will be resolved long before that--unless there is further time jumping, which could be tied into this season's Incident.sindatur wrote:May Sweeps is why we have to wait two weeks. I'm wondering how the "statue shadow" people fit in here. They're not Widmore's people, which makes it appear that they are Others (which would fit with the bounty hunter's so-called intent to take Sayid to Guam, since it completed Ben's agenda), yet Ben didn't immediately enlist them once he was safely returned to the island. It seems an overly elaborate deception--even for Ben--to shoot one and threaten the rest if they're on your side.

I've been thinking, there was lots of references to the numbres last night which total to 108, the Losties were on the island 108 days before the O6 left. The Swan, which is being built now, is the center of 108 (and the breakdown). There's an incident coming, which may affect delivery after conception on the island; it may involve the purge, it may involve Danielle (2/3 of that requires about 10 more years). Miles just delivered a body, that he said got "shot" from the inside, with a filling (while the Swan was being built). Chang, I believe, mentioned something happening at the Swan, (perhaps the body we're talking about) Remember all the magnetic pull we've already seen there, including Desmond's fillings hurting, and dogtags standing erect, like Dilbert's tie.ItisWritten wrote:Ben's coup won't happen for several years. Daniel just returned, did he program the island with this 108 recurrance and destination? OR Might Miles touch baby Miles and cause a time storm, especially against the EMP and send them hurtling through time again, affecting everything along the way?
Yea, what exactly is the new faction's goal? I don't think they're Ben's or Richard's people, because the folks in the Van who tried to convince Miles not to go to the Island, made the same basic remark about the Shadow of the Statue. Why would Ben's or Richard's people object to Miles who was so easily turned from Widmore's influence?

I can't be certain, but, he very well may beItisWritten wrote:Not certain, since I haven't watched them again, but wasn't the guy in the van trying to talk Miles out of the Widmore deal one of those now on the island (via flight 316)? My personal facial recognition software (memory) tells me his is, but I can't confirm it right now.
