Hey, Tepes here. I've decided to play a Mekhet vampire who joins the Ordo Dracul in search of enlightenment. I'm working out the backstory and such, and the personality will be fleshed out when more character guidelines are submitted.

I went to my local used bookstore and bought Vampire: The Masquerade just so that I could get a better idea of how this game works. Very interesting indeed.

I am working on a character that is clan Daeva/Invictus Covenant.

Hmmm, guess my Daeva won't join the Invictus then. :D

Hehehehhe.

I thought it was something about the game that more than one person couldn't be the same covenant.

Nah, I just wouldn't want a game full of Daeva in the Invictus, Gangrel in the Cricle of the Crone and Mekhet in Ordo Dracul is all. I like to mix things up a little. ;)

Heh, yeah a Nosferatu blues musician in search of talent doesn't quite jive.

Just picked up the rulebooks today as well. Lore will you be allowing siring or ghoul-making?

Well the idea was he was down on his luck before becoming kindred, so i can make anything work, but Daeva was best suited to is, as I had a few plans for him. I can always head back to teh drawing board

I will allow siring, but wait until you see the events of the campaign/story - that is, wait until the Prince's actions (She's going to surprise you . . . . did I say a she? Yes, we have a female Prince . . . I will leave you guessing what clan and covenant she belongs to). Now, bear in mind one of the Traditions states explicitly that siring may be forbidden, and he or she who sires does so at a cost to one's soul. The sire is also responsible on other levels (socially etc).

As for ghouls. Absolutely.

Update - I just purchased a book on Lancea Sanctum. I love this covenant. Wish I had the Ordo Dracul book, however (will have to order it next week).

Now, regarding the editable pdf character sheets. It appears that you need adobe acrobat. I believe I might own a copy, or at least reader (which, I admit, is the not the same thing). If you can get acrobat - or the latest version - which costs you money - it helps. Otherwise, we are stuck with representing attributes, skills, etc with numbers, which is fine. Personally, I would rather the character sheets because they look great and stats are easier to sort and edit.

I will keep everyone updated.

It appears that Foxit allows you to edit pdfs and then export as a pdf file.

Okay, some players are creating Havens together - which is fine by me (and permissible in the rules). So I thought I'd explain how it works. Don't get worried if it doesn't make sense, because it will soon when I complete scribing the character creation rules.

Basically, there are three aspects to the Haven trait. There's the straight forward Haven trait - the higher, the better. Then there are Haven Location, Haven Size and Haven Security. Location benefits hunting rolls, Size benefits storage rolls etc, and security . . . well . When players contribute to a haven each character specifies what he or she is spending points on - say, two on location, two on size, and maybe three on security. Or they can contribute together to elements of a haven, say two characters contribute two points each to location or size, and so those aspects become four (however none may be raised higher than five, the limit to traits, skills and attributes).

Uh, I don't mean to be raining on anyone's parade. :? I was just picking the clan/convenant I liked best.

Can't there be more than one Daeva?

Haven- at once a vampire's resting place, personal domain and private inner sanctum. A haven is the place (perhaps the only place) where a vampire can reliably find shelter from the sun while she sleeps the day away. Due to the Kindred's inhospitable relationship with the sun, the selection and administration of one's haven can often be (or quickly become) one of the most important aspects of a young vampire's unlife.

Given that there are only five clans, it's highly likely we will have a few characters from the same clan. I see no problem with it. Anyway, it all depends where one spends points on skills, traits and disciplines. It is extremely likely we will have a very diverse group of Kindred.
