Here's a thought: after seeing him in "American Gangster," how about Denzel Washington for Covenant?

I never envisioned Cov with a red X on his forehead...is that what the single red welt, clear and deadly, transfixing Covenant's forehead like a spear...looks like?deer of the dawn wrote:THE perfect Covenant:
William Fichtner.
Why won't the image utility work on this site??Oh well. Google him.

NEWayz...Fichtner absolutley looks the part, and he's a good actor...but does he have the range to do Cov? Range and intensity like Day-Lewis?

That dude would be a very good choice for the role of TC! He's the right age (or age-group), the right height, an appropirate-looking face, etc etc. The only "problem" is the weight. TC is described as being "gaunt & lean", so this guy is about 20 lbs overweight for the role. However, a Hollywood crash diet would solve that problem. This guy would work well, assuming he has the acting chops to pull it off. I, for one, believes he does.

In the "Panama" episodes in Prison Break, he loses a few pounds. And yes, so many TV actors don't translate well to the big screen, but I think he could do it.

Christian Bale made himself gaunt for a Prisoner of War movie (and then I think did Batman right after so he had to bulk back up), if I remember correctlyspoonchicken wrote:That dude would be a very good choice for the role of TC! But Bale takes the cake for "The Machinist" where he dropped to something like 125 lbs.

Actually, that's the movie I was referring to I believe. I've never seen it, but, knew he dropped to a drastic weight considering his normal weight. I assumed it was a POW movie, but, "The Machinist" does sound familiar. I remembered reading he had gotten down to 125 pounds for it, and I had already seen him in American Psycho, and knew he was normally a pretty big guy, and then he was back up again in Batman BeginsRigel wrote:But Bale takes the cake for "The Machinist" where he dropped to something like 125 lbs.
Probably because he was also in a POW movie, "September Dawn" or something. Not very memorable, and there are better 'Nam movies out there.sindatur wrote:Actually, that's the movie I was referring to I believe. My own thoughts...
Realistically, whoever plays Covenant needs to be relatively young and fit, capable of great intensity but also somehow fundamentally likable (given his attitude and some of his actions, 'tis tricky to keep an audience's sympathy).
My nomination goes to Ben Browder of Farscape. Mind you, I also think he'd make an awesome Bannor.
Another obvious choice for Bannor would be Viggo Mortensen. He'd be a great Covenant as well, but he's getting a little old for the part. IMHO.
My choice for High Lord Prothall -- Bill Nighy (who'll be in the next Harry Potter movie btw) with Dame Judi Dench as Osondrea.
Myself, I see Emily Browning as the young Lena with Angelina Jolie as her older self. Both are excellent actors who could easily pass for one another. For that matter, Jolie could also play Elena.
I"d love Alan Rickman as Mhoram but the fact is, the man is in his sixties. But who better to play the Forrestal Careoil Wildwood, eh?
Instead, I'd choose Andy Serkis as Mhoram.
Me, I'd choose Maggie Gyllanhal as Linden Avery the Chosen. She's got the acting chops to pull it off, although upon reflection maybe Michelle Williams might be even better because she's more inherently vulnerable (and is slightly more the physical type in terms of coloring at least).

Maggie Gyllanhall would be a great Linden, IMHO. Your other choices are pretty good too.

I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but Christopher Plummer would be awsome as Mhoram. Or, if he's not up to the action (and doesn't want a stand in), then Prothall.
