*nod*

I read that, but while it is best known for that version, it doesn't answer which was shown first of the two versions of the video...

Hi, it's Vince with ShamWow.
You'll be saying wow
Every time you use this towel.
It's like a chamois! It's like a towel!
It's like a sponge.

A regular towel doesn't work wet - this works wet or dry.
This is for the house, the car, the boat, the RV!

ShamWow holds twenty times it's weight in liquid. Look at this!
It just does the work!

Why do you want to work twice as hard?
Doesn't drip, doesn't make a mess.
Wring it out, you wash it in the washing machine.

Made in Germany, you know the Germans always make good stuff.

You can cut it in half, use one as a bath mat, drain your dishes with the other one.

Use one as a towel.
Olympic divers, they use it as a towel.
Look at that! Completely dry!

Put a wet sweater, roll it up, it dries your sweaters. Here's some cola, wine, coffee cola pet stains. Not only is the damage gonna be on top - there's your mildew. That is going to smell! [ See that? ]

The most absorbing We're gonna do this in real time! Look at this! Put it on the spill, turn it over! Without even putting pressure, fifty percent of the cola right there.

You followin me, camera guy?

The other fifty percent, the color starts to come up. No other towel's gonna do that!
It acts like a vacuum!
And look at this - virtually dry on the bottom!
See what I'm telling ya?

ShamWow! You'll be saying wow every time!

After hearing the short story on Psuedopod, these lyrics stand out more for me.

"Furnace Room Lullaby"
Neko Case

All night, all I hear, all I hear's your heart
How come, how come

I twisted you over and under to take you
The coals went so wild as they swallowed the rest
I twisted you under and under to break you
I just couldn't breathe with your throne on my chest

All night, all I hear, all I hear's your heart
How come, how come

So far under the bed
Into the beams you've gone
I've gone, you've gone

I'm wrapped in the depths of these deeds that have made me
I can't bring a sound from my head though I try
I can't seem to find my way up from the basement
A demon holds my place on earth 'till I die

All night, all I hear, all I hear's your heart
How come, how come

So far under the bed
Into the beams you've gone
I've gone, you've gone

All night, all I hear, all I hear's your heart

St. Charles
Jefferson Starship

Let me tell you 'bout a dream,
Dream.

You know I saw her in a dream.
Oh, St. Charles sings,
Sings about love.
St. Charles, tell me tonight,
Won't you tell me 'bout love.
You know I saw her in a dream.

There was China, in her eyes,
In a silk and velvet disguise,
She was movin' like a lady,
Lookin' like a dragon princess.
She was walkin',
walkin' by the river,
rollin' in a rhythm of love.
I never felt like this before;
I'll never stop, I just want more.

Oh, St. Charles sings,
Sings about love.
St. Charles, tell me tonight,
Won't you tell me 'bout love.
You know I saw her in a dream.

I was shang-hied by her way,
Hypnotized by the things she would say,
In the moonlight on the water,
We were like lovers in another lifetime.
Whoa, is it only a vision?
Ah, it feels like a prison,
Just the spell of a demon and I can't get away.

Oh, St. Charles sings,
Sings about love.
St. Charles, tell me tonight,
Won't you tell me 'bout love.
Please tell me 'bout love.
I saw her in a dream.
Please tell me 'bout love.
I know I saw her in a dream....
Dream....

Let me take you,
To another place,
Another time,
Another world of people, dancin' in rhyme,
Dance in the air, six-fingered webbed,
Fair as the air.
She is the storm bringer, yeh.
The storm changer. yeh.

Tie, yourself down to the main mast.
Tie, yourself down to the main mast.
Like Ulysses in the water
Storm winds comin' down the main line.
Tie, yourself down to the main mast,
Tie it down with love.
Tie it down with love.
Don't you feel it, stormin'?
I feel it coming, stormin'.
I can feel it now, stormin',
Don't you feel it comin', stormin'?
Ahhhhhh....
stormin'
stormin'
stormin'
stormin'
stormin'
stormin'
stormin'
stormin'
stormin'
stormin'

Cosmonaut Lyrics
At the Drive-In

we sample from the shelves
tore a page out from this chapter
deface the essays in the book that you're reading
we are the leaches that stop the bleeding
deficit attention program
by any means necessary
blare sirens to the library
whisper instructions to the book-wormed glossary

is it heavier than air - tell us, is the black box lying?
is it heavier than air - tell us, is the black box lying?

aeronautics hacked
the spine of paragraphs
prepare to indent, a coma that read-
floating in a soundproof costume
here comes the monolith
brass knuckles for the hissie fit
an abbreviation for the landing of fleets
incoming

is it heavier than air - tell us, is the black box lying?
is it heavier than air - tell us, is the black box lying?

position the stitches - like miles of torpedoes
permission was hinted
lungs that hollered in a sleeper hold

is it heavier than air - am i supposed to die alone?
is it heavier than air?
is it heavier than air - am i supposed to die alone?
is it heavier than air?

position the stitches - like miles of torpedoes
permission was hinted
lungs that hollered in a sleeper hold

position the stitches - like miles of torpedoes

Rainmakers - Greatest Night of Your Life

it was a one night stand
with a rock 'n' roll band
in a big old room
with a sonic boom
there were a thousand chairs
there were twenty-five there
and the band felt blue
I guess I did too
but we played and played
and when we walked off the stage
I swore I'd just jammed with God
it was the greatest night
of a young boy's life
but the band just thought
I was odd
you never know who
might be watching you
on the greatest night of your life

there was a little old town
I left and I loved
It was one mile square
mighty quiet there
I split for the skies
grew weary and wise
out casting my pearls
all over the world
and I climbed so high
nearly ruined my eyes
trying to see what I could see
and what I saw
was that little old town
was all the world I'd ever need
the truth like a stone
will come crashing home
on the greatest night of your life

there was a girl I loved
in that little old town
we were the best of friends
odd even for then
but we went our ways
and she changed her name
and she changed her tune
changed faces too
and I tried like mad
to recreate what we had
but it wasn't meant to be
and when I finally gave up
that I'd never know love
she was standing
right in front of me
love will arrive
it its own good time
on the greatest time of your life

thanks for being here with me
on the greatest night of my life
Image
Life is a waste of time
Time is a waste of life
So get wasted all of the time
And you'll have the time of your life

Standing there alone,
the ship is waiting.
All systems are go.
"Are you sure?"
Control is not convinced,
but the computer
has the evidence.
No need to abort.
The countdown starts.

Watching in a trance,
the crew is certain.
Nothing left to chance,
all is working.
Trying to relax
up in the capsule
"Send me up a drink."
jokes Major Tom.
The count goes on...

4, 3, 2, 1
Earth below us
drifting, falling.
Floating weightless
calling, calling home...

Second stage is cut.
We're now in orbit.
Stabilizers up,
runnning perfect.
Starting to collect
requested data.
"What will it affect
when all is done?"
thinks Major Tom.

Back at ground control,
there is a problem.
"Go to rockets full."
Not responding.
"Hello Major Tom.
Are you receiving?
Turn the thrusters on.
We're standing by."
There's no reply.

4, 3, 2, 1
Earth below us
drifting, falling.
Floating weightless
calling, calling home...

Across the stratosphere,
a final message:
"Give my wife my love."
Then nothing more.

Far beneath the ship,
the world is mourning.
They don't realize
he's alive.
No one understands,
but Major Tom sees.
"Now the light commands
this is my home,
I'm coming home."

Earth below us
drifting, falling.
Floating weightless
coming home...
Earth below us
drifting, falling.
Floating weightless
coming, coming
home...
home.....

This remind you of anyone? Reminds me of most of my dates. I left the first stanza out cause some might find it kind of offensive.

Katy Perry
Hot N Cold Lyrics

And you always think
Always speak
Crypticly

I should know
That you’re no good for me

Cause you’re hot then you’re cold
You’re yes then you’re no
You’re in and you’re out
You’re up and you’re down
You’re wrong when it’s right
It’s black and it’s white
We fight, we break up
We kiss, we make up

You, You don’t really want to stay, no
You, but you don’t really want to go-o
You’re hot then you’re cold
You’re yes then you’re no
You’re in and you’re out
You’re up and you’re down

We used to be
Just like twins
So in sync
The same energy
Now’s a dead battery
Used to laugh bout nothing
Now your plain boring

I should know that
you’re not gonna change

Cause you’re hot then you’re cold
You’re yes then you’re no
You’re in and you’re out
You’re up and you’re down
You’re wrong when it’s right
It’s black and it’s white
We fight, we break up
We kiss, we make up

You, You don’t really want to stay, no
You, but you don’t really want to go-o
You’re hot then you’re cold
You’re yes then you’re no
You’re in and you’re out
You’re up and you’re down

Someone call the doctor
Got a case of a love bi-polar
Stuck on a roller coaster
Can’t get off this ride

You change your mind
Like a girl changes clothes

Cause you’re hot then you’re cold
You’re yes then you’re no
You’re in and you’re out
You’re up and you’re down
You’re wrong when it’s right
It’s black and it’s white
We fight, we break up
We kiss, we make up

you’re hot then you’re cold
You’re yes then you’re no
You’re in and you’re out
You’re up and you’re down
You’re wrong when it’s right
It’s black and it’s white
We fight, we break up
We kiss, we make up

You, You don’t really want to stay, no
You, but you don’t really want to go-o
You’re hot then you’re cold
You’re yes then you’re no
You’re in and you’re out
You’re up and you’re down
The loudest truth I ever heard was the softest sound.

This is from "Twin Sons of Different Mothers" by Dan Fogelberg and Tim Weisberg. Forgot I had this CD 'til I ran across it about a week ago. Now the song won't leave me alone. Judy Collins wrote it.

What I'll give you
Since you asked
Is all my time together
Take the rugged sunny days
The warm and rocky weather
Take the roads that I have walked along
Looking for tomorrow's time
Peace of mind

As your life spills into mine
Changing with the seasons
Filling up the world with time
Changing time to reasons
I can show you all the songs
That I never sang to someone before

We have seen a million stars
Lying by the water
You have climbed the hills with me
To the mountain shelter
Taking off the days
One by one
Setting them to breathe
In the sun

Take the lilies and the lace
From the days of childhood
All the willow winding paths
Leading up and outward
This is what I give
This is what I ask you for
Nothing more

Jill Sobule - Barren Egg

Another barren egg, another month gone by
Just more time to do as I please
No one watching over me
I don't have to make my bed
I can lay in it instead
With no one there to bother me
'Cause I'm free
It's just me

Another friend got caught
Another friend knocked up
Another friend with nothing in common with me
Another night with you
Spending time with you
I'm still alone 'cause you're the freest man I've ever known

I'm free
Just me
I'm free
Nobody but me
I'm free
Save me

Free as the snow as it melts away
Free as the wind on a real calm day
Free as the moth on my window pane
Like you, kinda like me

Another barren egg, another year gone by
Just more time to do as I please
No one's tugging at my sleeve
I can be as rude as I please
No one's going to fire me
Floating in this endless sea

I'm free
Just me
I'm free
Nobody but me
I'm free
Save me

Jill Sobule - The Jig Is Up

If I had a lot of money
I’d move to another country
I’d disappear, not tell a soul, I'd change my name
Or maybe I'd go back to school
Major in something foolish
And I could do it cause I'd have a lot of money
Here I am holding on to childhood's dream
Sitting in my apple tree
Swaying as the branches tremble under me

The jig is up, it's all been played
The well is dry, the bed's been made
The jig is up, the jig is up

Maybe I could jump,
Jump off the Brooklyn Bridge
But I don't live in Brooklyn
And I don't know how to swim
Or I could find religion
go on some kind of mission
Feed the poor, and then I would go to heaven
if I believed in heaven

Here I am, holding on to childhood's dream
Standing on the balcony
Waiting for someone to come and rescue me

The jig is up, the dance is done
The record skips, the song's been sung
The troops have dwindled down to one
The jig is up
The jig is up, the sun has set
The train is wrecked, the sheets are wet
And like I said, the jig is up

Well I can't really disappear
Cause I don’t have a lot of money
And I don't really think I wanna
go back to school
But maybe I'm just in a bad mood
And I need to change my attitude
And when I wake up tomorrow
I'll believe in heaven

Here I am, holding on to childhood's dream
Climbing down the apple tree
Waking as you pull the covers off of me
The jig is up

The jig is up, yes it's been tough
The punch is drunk, the shrink is shrunk
It's time to get the baby up
It's off to work let's start the car
We'll turn it over in its grave
And start again its soul to save
The jig is up but so what
We'll fill again this empty cup
The jig is up, the point's been made
Elvis has just left the stage
The story needs another twist
And I have had enough of this

Jill Sobule - Heroes

Why are all our heroes so imperfect
Why do they always bring me down
Why are all our heroes so imperfect
The statue in the park has lost his crown

William Faulkner drunk and depressed
Dorothy Parker mean, drunk and depressed
And that guy in Seven Years in Tibet turned out to be a Nazi
The founding fathers all had slaves, the explorers slaughtered the braves,
The Old Testament God can be so petty

Paul McCartney jealous of John, even more so now that he's gone
Dylan was so mean to Donovan in that movie
Pablo Picasso cruel to his wives
My favorite poets took their own lives
Orson Welles peaked at 25, ballooned before our eyes
and he sold bad wine

Heard Babe Ruth was full of malice
Lewis Carroll I'm sure did Alice
Plato in the cave with those very young boys
T.S. Eliot hated Jews, FDR didn't save the Jews
All the French joined the resistance after the war
Raymond Chandler drunk and depressed
Tennessee Williams drunk and depressed
Think I'll just get drunk and depressed.

centro-matic

Strychnine, Breathless Ways

It’s an instant action day, ill equipped for anything you say
With all my ditches rearranged, ain’t it beautiful with plows and flange?
And Lometa’s running figure eights in seven flat and stabbing for my soul
And there’s little time left to create, all pissed away with papers, mail and phones

And in strychnine, breathless ways, there are reasons here for you to know
In an ashtray kind of way, you are useful and a little stained
And forgiveness comes in smaller crates, I’m undeserving of these things I know
But the sun has set on something great, all pissed away with papers, mail and phones

Good morning, the worm, your honour,
The crown will plainly show,
The prisoner who now stands before you,
Was caught red-handed showing feelings.
Showing feelings of an almost human nature.
This will not do.

Call the schoolmaster!

I always said he'd come to no good,
In the end, your honour.
If they'd let me have my way,
I could have flayed him into shape.
But my hands were tied.
The bleeding hearts and artists,
Let him get away with murder.
Let me hammer him today.

Crazy.
Toys in the attic, I am crazy.
Truly gone fishing.
They must have taken my marbles away.
(crazy. toys in the attic, he is crazy.)

You little shit, you're in it now.
I hope they throw away the key.
You should've talked to me more often than you did.
But no! you had to go your own way.
Have you broken any homes up lately?
Just five minutes, worm, your honour,
Him and me alone.

Baaaaaabe!
Come to mother, baby.
Let me hold you in my arms.
M'lord, I never meant for him to get in any trouble.
Why'd he ever have to leave me?
Worm, your honour, let me take him home.

Crazy.
Over the rainbow, I am crazy.
Bars in the window.
There must have been a door there in the wall.
For when I came in. . .
(crazy. over the rainbow, he is crazy.)

The evidence before the court is incontrovertible.
There's no need for the jury to retire.
In all my years of judging I have never heard before,
Of someone more deserving of the full penalty of the law.
The way you made them suffer,
Your exquisite wife and mother,
Fills me with the urge to defecate! -- no, judge, the jury!
Since, my friend, you have revealed your deepest fear,
I sentence you to be exposed before your peers.

Tear down the wall!
Tear down the wall!
Tear down the wall!
Tear down the wall!
Tear down the wall!
Tear down the wall!
ad infinitum

... Tear down the wall!
...

All alone, or in two's
The ones who really love you
Walk up and down outside the Wall

Some hand in hand
and some gathered together in bands
The bleeding hearts and artists make their stand

And when they've given you their all
Some stagger and fall
After all it's not easy
Banging your heart against some mad bugger's wall...

I've been listening to Pink Floyd the last few weeks, ever since I caught their 94 concert on tv.

The Wall is my emotional implosion album: if I'm emotionally imploding you'll here me playing Floyd and singing my lungs out.

My favs would be Comfortably Numb, Is There Anybody Out There, and Nobody Home (coz I actually do have a little black book with me poems in...among other things...). Then again, it depends on my mood: sometime I'm all for One Of My Turns  coz I have them ...often .

I was always a fan of...gosh, can't remember the album name now: the one with Learning to Fly etc on it (beds on a beach cover...brilliant cover).

But today I'm judging (myself! always a constructive thing to do when one's trying to concentrate on work ), hence The Trial!

Not showing feelings of an almost human nature again? :P I've also had a soft spot for 'Hey You'.

I've always loved the Wall, and selective songs from Dark Side of the Moon - the last 2 especially (Brain Damage and Eclipse) - amazing music, devastating lyrics (but strangely comforting if you're in the mood....) - played it over and over in my youth...
