Part of the joy of hopi is that it condenses all those things into one ginormous ball of black stuff, so you don't have to spend the rest of your life in fear, with your hands over your ears.

I lost my only pair glasses sometime between the time when I went to bed last night and when I got up in the morning, and I have been unable to find them since. I have not seen them anywhere I have looked, and I have looked everywhere I have been in the last 48 hours. The last time I remember having them is right before I took them off before going to bed last night. I hope I find them soon. Thank goodness I don't need them to drive!

Ugh, Auleliel. I'm down to one pair of glasses myself, and misplaced them a couple of weeks ago. It's just a matter of backtracking.

I found them. On my dad's laptop, right after he took them off of his face. Apparently he got them mixed up with his own (we have similar frame styles). His aren't prescription, so he isn't as careful with his glasses as I am with mine. They are very badly scratched, so it is blurrier when I have them on than when I have them off. :(

No offense to your dad intended, but um, if he can't tell his glasses from yours, then maybe it's time he did get a prescription.

But at least there's a better chance of recovering misplaced glasses than misplaced contact lenses. (Heh, I say that from costly experience.)

Egad. I haven't looked at my prescription in a long time. Even then, it's all gobbledygook to me. But my contact lens specialist said I've got astigmatism, so they gave me a toric (?) lens - and those are the more expensive kind.

aww... astigmatism must suuuuck... heh, must be running you upwards... ehh... damn. i don't know canada's money system. EXPENSIVE :(

mine are like, super cheap. i have the simplest prescription ever, though.

Well, you made me go look up all that stuff on Wiki - astigmatism, eye exams, etc.

So, astigmatism means I have an oval cornea instead of the normal round cornea. Silly cornea.

I use RGP contacts, so the upfront cost is higher than for soft lenses. But in turn, a pair of hard lenses can last for years. I've been wearing the same contacts (or one of them, ahem) for the past 6 years or so. A little professional polishing every now and again and they're like new.

I know you probably know all that; I'm just saying it for the benefit of those who might be thinking of getting contacts. :wink:

Yup, it's toric lenses for astigmatism, and yup, they are freakin' expensive (as I know from firsthand experience, sigh).

Back home tonight after the graduation weekend. Vacation in WV was too rushed, between Magickmaker's having to stay on campus until after noon Monday to check girls out of their dorm rooms, and my having to be back in DC by 5pm tonight for the Decennial Dinner -- but we had fun anyhow. :) The dinner was okay -- the food was good, at least -- but none of the folks I'm closest to came, so I ended up at a table with some folks who I wouldn't normally sit with. Ah well.

Now that cat is acting weird. Well, weirder than usual. :P She's been meowing at me ever since I got home tonight, and she keeps sitting by the front door and meowing at me. I can't tell whether she wants to go out (which isn't happening) or she wants me to leave again. :lol:

but I could never get used to contacts
and the frames I now have for my glasses I simply love
(same as the one in the picture wayfriend took of me at the 2007 elohimfest; well actually, they're the same frames as all the picures of me in the album, but that one is the easiest to see them in)

so...
no contacts for me

Astigmatism here too! Soft, disposable contacts (supposedly every 3 months, but I only wear them for sport - 2-3 times a week, so they last longer than that).

It's astigmatism FTW! Meaning, of course, that I have it too. I wear toric soft lenses that I replace every 4-6 weeks (when I remember). :oops:

Oh, and so sorry to hear about your loss, SBG! |G

I'm going to be going to Colorado for a long weekend, so I may or may not check in before I leave on Friday. I hope all stateside people enjoy the Remembrance (Memorial) day holiday on Monday! :biggrin:
