Who is Stoking the Banefire?

Post by Demondime-a-dozen-spawn »

Today is a Sun of Pestilence. Yesterday's sun was a Desert Sun. The day before that, yet a different sun.

Is the Clave at work here at Kevin's Watch? In former times the Sunbane would manifest itself in a particular sun for two or three consecutive days. This period of only a day per sun makes me suspect that the Clave is once more active and has found yet another source of Haruchai blood with which to stoke the Banfire.

I'm telling SRD. :P

I believe it is Brandy na-Mhoram-in. She doesn't really pay much attention to the Banefire like she should.
Covenant turned in time to see a short figure detach itself from the burning mud, step queasily onto the hard ground.

The figure was scarcely taller than the skest, and shaped like them, a misborn child without eyes or any other features. But it was made of mud. Flames flickered over it as it climbed from the fire, then died away, leaving a dull brown creature like a sculpture poorly wrought in clay. Reddish pockets embedded in its form glowed dully.

All I can say is, ever since the Sunbane first arose over KW, it's been a real drag having to stand on stone everytime I wanted to log onto this place. :P

I know the Sunbane is no laughing matter, but that was pretty damn funny, matrixman!

You would think your boots especially would protect you.

I don't know about that... I think matrixman's caution is well placed. It always struck me as foolish that in the Second Chronicles, Covenant just assumed that he and Linden would be protected from the first touch of the Sunbane by their boots, simply because his boots protected him from the attacks through the ground in the First Chronicles.

Throwing caution to the wind like that always strikes me as a bad choice on Covenant's part every time I read it.

IIRC Covenant assumed that protection from the Sunbane was due to his boots AFTER he'd been exposed and suffered no harm.

Could the Banefire be fueled by all the new "Hellfires"? (and hereby adding my share)

"You stared at me till your eyeballs smoked. Was it anger, or love, or the caffeine in your Coke?" -Was (not Was)
