Drunkards Prayer. I think that's what the album is called.

And Endy, I was actually quite chuffed to hear their song Born played on the US tv series "Bones" (series one) a little while ago.
Ah, I don't watch Bones so missed that. Umm does chuffed mean offended or impressed? Excuse my ignorance!

And Stevie, Drunkards Prayer is an excellent choice.
OK, thanks I'll try and get a copy of Drunkards Prayer. Oh, and chuffed is impressed!

I was CHUFFED to bits at finding My Fair Lady DVD.
Here's the lyrics to Eliza's first song:

Ol I want tis a room somewhere
Far away from the cold night air
Wiv one enormous chair
Oh wouldn'it be lovl'y.

Lots of choclate for me to eat
Lots of coal makin lots of eet
Warm face, warm ans, warm feet
Oh wouldn'it be lovl'y

Oh so lovl'y sittin abso'bloomin'lootly still
I would never budge till spring crept over the window sill

Someone's ead restin on my knee
Warm and tender as ee can be
Ood takes good care of me
Oh wouldn'it be lovl'y
Lovl'y
Lovl'y

Now, if I could only find Breakfast At Tiffanys

 When I was a kid, I used to write letters to my cousin in another state, and asked him how he was going. He wrote back and said "I'm feeling grouse!" So I wrote back: "I hope you're feeling better soon" - well, grouse is an unusual word when you're 8 years old... (still unusual IMO!) - how was I to know it meant "great"?

The World Turned Upside Down (originally The Diggers' Song)
In 1649
To St. George’s Hill,
A ragged band they called the Diggers
Came to show the people’s will
They defied the landlords
They defied the laws
They were the dispossessed reclaiming what was theirs

We come in peace they said
To dig and sow
We come to work the lands in common
And to make the waste ground grow
This earth divided
We will make whole
So it will be
A common treasury for all

The sin of property
We do disdain
No man has any right to buy and sell
The earth for private gain
By theft and murder
They took the land
Now everywhere the walls
Spring up at their command

They make the laws
To chain us well
The clergy dazzle us with heaven
Or they damn us into hell
We will not worship
The God they serve
The God of greed who feed the rich
While poor folk starve

We work we eat together
We need no swords
We will not bow to the masters
Or pay rent to the lords
Still we are free
Though we are poor
You Diggers all stand up for glory
Stand up now

From the men of property
The orders came
They sent the hired men and troopers
To wipe out the Diggers’ claim
Tear down their cottages
Destroy their corn
They were dispersed
But still the vision lingers on

You poor take courage
You rich take care
This earth was made a common treasury
For everyone to share
All things in common
All people one
We come in peace
The orders came to cut them down

Hopefully get to see two performances of this next weekend, by Oysterband and Attilla the Stockbroker :D

Kirsty MacColl - Bad

I've been the token woman all my life
The token daughter and the token wife
Now I collected tokens one by one
'Til I've saved enough to buy a gun
Now you can't get even but you can get mad
And it's not funny no and it's not sad
It's just a feeling that I've always had
Oh look out world I'm about to be bad

I want a brief encounter in a stolen car
A hand on my buttock in a Spanish bar
I want to meet the man who wants to go too far
For a token of my affection
I want to taste excitement, smell the danger
Get swept off my feet by the perfect stranger
I want to try something that I've never had
Oh look out world I'm about to be bad

I've been an awful woman all my life
A dreadful daughter and a hopeless wife
And I've had my eyes on that carving knife
Oh you've been lucky so far
I'm not crazy no I'm just mad
I don't want to be sorry, no I want to be glad
It's a feeling inside that I have always had
So look out world I'm about to be bad
Image
Life is a waste of time
Time is a waste of life
So get wasted all of the time
And you'll have the time of your life

Dreamer Deceiver- Judas Priest

Standing by my window, breathing summer breeze
Saw a figure floating, 'neath the willow tree
Asked us if we were happy, we said we didn't know
Took us by the hands and up we go

We followed the dreamer through the purple hazy clouds
He could control our sense of time
We thought we were lost but no matter how we tried
Everyone was in peace of mind

We felt the sensations drift inside our frames
Finding complete contentment there
And all the tensions that hurt us in the past
Just seemed to vanish in thin air

He said in the cosmos is a single sonic sound
That is vibrating constantly
And if we could grip and hold on to the note
We would see our minds were free...oh they're free

We are lost above
Floating way up high
If you think you can find a way
You can surely try
Drink up
Shoot in
Let the beatings begin
Distributor of pain
Your loss becomes my gain
-Metallica

"If you will permit the Mahdoubt one last word of council" --she gave Linden a teasing sidelong glance--" you will clothe yourself ere your companions attend upon you. Oh, assuredly. If you do not, you will disturb their wits."

Sheer Terror (1984-1998 & 2004 RIP) - A Tale of Moran

NYC finest hardcore ever ...

Who's doing shots of mouthwash?
Who's puking up their dues?
Who's screwing on the top bunk?
And who fell off their shoes?
Who's smashing up the longnecks
Along the firewall?
Who's busting rails and breaking wind
In the bathroom stall?

We've worn out our welcome in every bar in town.
But before we get thrown out again, we'll burn this shithouse down.
We know we ain't too pretty, and we know we're outta line
And we're outta luck, but who gives a fuck, we never spent a dime!

Who's dancing with a bar rag?
And singin' Elvis with the band?
Who's putting out their cigarrettes
on the back of someone's hand?
Who's playing with a Zippo
And a bottle of 151?
And who's going out for 'Loco
When the new day has just begun?

Those were the times I treasure most,
As screwy as they are.
Goin' out for days on end and stinkin' like a bar.
But then one got buried and another turned
Who used to be one of the slobs.
Now he's on the take and he's cutting off
'cause he says it's part of his job

C'mon, buddy, what's the fuss?
You know you're still one of us.
Stop acting like a worried mom.
C'mon, Let's go wake up Tom!
We'll crank the jukebox up real high
And have one on the little guy.
What's said is said, what's done is done.
Now shut up, drink up, be someone! (repeat)

Those days are no longer.
They're over, dead, and gone.
We ain't allowed in one place.
And where the hell is Tom?
So let the tap flow freely and let the music play.
Let's have another round on Hank
'Cause he would've done it this way!
Functionless art is vandalism. I am the vandal.

"The Lust, The Flesh, The Eyes and The Pride of Life"
by The Seventy-Sevens

Well, I feel
Like I have to feel
Something good all of the time
With most of life I cannot deal
But a good feeling I can feel
Even though it may not be real
And if a person, place or thing can deliver
I will quiver with delight
But will it last me for all my life
Or just one more lonely night

The lust, the flesh
The eyes
And the pride of life
Drain the life
Right out of me

Well, I see something and I want it
Bam! Right now!
No questions asked
Don't worry how much it costs me now or later
I want it and I want it fast
I'll go to any length
Sacrifice all that I already have
And all that I might get
Just to get
Something more that I don't need
And Lord, please don't ask me what for

The lust, the flesh
The eyes
And the pride of life
Drain the life
Right out of me

And I love when folks
Look right at me
And what I'm doing
Or have done
And lay it on about
How groovy I am
And that I'm looking grand
And every single word
Makes me think I'll live forever
Never knowing that they probably
Won't remember what they said tomorrow
Tomorrow I could be dead

The lust, the flesh
The eyes
And the pride of life
Drain the life
Right out of me

josh ritter - the other side

Say the west is a story we made up to erase
Conestoga wagons left tracks you can see from space
From the Northwest passage to the Great Divide
Everybody's looking for the other side

I'm still waiting for the whiskey to whisk me away
And I'm still waiting for the ashra to lead me astray
I twist the culdesacs into one way signs
I ain't going round in circles on the other side

So at night I sit and watch for stars to stay
They wink and then they're gone down the Milky Way
But when You're left in the middle of the Midwest sky
Everywhere you look is the Other Side
Lenin, Marx
Marx, Lennon
Good Dog...

So many problems, yet none at all
So many windows through every wall
So many feelings you won't express
So many failures you call success

Don't let it get you down [x2]

You cried over losing what you never really had
Just remember the good times along side the bad
Remember that real love never disappears
If it's lasted a moment it'll last for years

Don't let it get you down [x4]

Don't let it fool you in any way
You know you're tomorrow depends on today
If you're carrying nothing it won't weigh you down
You are the king and queen, you are the crown

Don't let it get you down [ad infinitum]

Leave--Matchbox 20 (when I sing it's to that person who walked out on me, since "for better or worse" meant absolutely nothing to him.)

It's amazing
how you make your face just like a wall,
how you take your heart and turn it off,
how I turn my head and lose it all

It's unnerving
how just one move puts me by myself
There you go just trustin' someone else
Now I know I put us both through hell

I'm not sayin'
there was nothin' wrong
I just didn't think you'd ever get tired of me
And I'm not sayin'
we ever had the right to hold on
I just didn't wanna let it get away from me

But if that's how you're gonna leave
straight out from underneath,
then we'll see who's sorry now
If that's how it's gonna stand, when
you know you've been depending on
the one you're leavin' now
the one you're leavin' out

It's aggravating
how you threw me on
and you tore me out,
how your good intentions turned to doubt
the way you needed time to sort it out

I'm not sayin'
there was nothin' wrong
I just didn't think you'd ever get tired of me
And I'm not sayin'
we ever had the right to hold on
I just didn't wanna let it get away from me

But if that's how you're gonna leave
straight out from underneath,
then we'll see who's sorry now
If that's how it's gonna stand, when
you know you've been depending on
the one you're leavin' now
the one you're leavin' out
the one you're leavin' now
Now now now no
the one you're leavin' out

I'm not sayin'
there was nothin' wrong
I didn't think you'd ever get tired of me

But if that's how your gonna leave
straight out from underneath,
then we'll see who's sorry now
If that's how it's gonna stand, when
you know you've been depending on
the one you're leavin' now now

yea well tell me is that how it's gonna end
when you know youve been depending on
the one you're leaving now
the one you're leaving out
i'm the one your leavin' now
the one you're leavin' out
Sweet peace come to me
Calm the chaos churning within
Sweet Jesus enwrap me
Enlighten my heart so dim

My soul seeks Thee
In breathless desperation it cries
Sweet Jesus enwrap me
As my body slowly dies...

excerpt from MANDY FLY ME

ahh...saw her walking on the water as the sharks were coming for me,
I felt Mandy pull me up give me the kiss of life
just like the girl in Dr.No No No No

ahh...when they pulled me from the wreckage and her body couldn't be found,
was it in my mind it seems I had a crazy dream
I told them so but they said no no no no

I found me on a street and starin' at a wall
if it hadn't have been for Mandy
her promise up above me, well I wouldn't be here at all

- so if you're travlin' in the sky -

don't be surprised!

- if someone says, 'Hi!'

I'm MANDY FLY ME

Sometimes is never quite enough
If you're flawless, then you'll win my love
Don't forget to win first place
Don't forget to keep that smile on your face

Be a good boy
Try a little harder
You've got to measure up
And make me prouder

How long before you screw it up
How many times do I have to tell you to hurry up
With everything I do for you
The least you can do is keep quiet

Be a good girl
You've gotta try a little harder
That simply wasn't good enough
To make us proud

Ill live through you
Ill make you what I never was
If you're the best, then maybe so am i
Compared to him compared to her
I'm doing this for your own damn good
You'll make up for what I blew
Whats the problem... why are you crying

Be a good boy
Push a little farther now
That wasn't fast enough
To make us happy
Well love you just the way you are if you're perfect

good song Seareach! I love Alanis, especially that album.

Here's one from Fuel: Shimmer

She calls me from the cold
Just when I was low, feeling short of stable
And all that she intends
And all she keeps inside, isnt on the label
She says shes ashamed
And can she take me for awhile
And can I be a friend, well forget the past
But maybe Im

not able
And I break at the bend

Were here and now, but will we ever be again
cause I have found
All that shimmers in this world is sure to fade
Away again

She dreams a champagne dream
Strawberry surprise, pink linen and white paper
Lavender and cream
Fields of butterflies, reality escapes her
She says that love is for fools who fall behind
And Im somewhere in between
I never really know
A killer from a savior
til I break at the bend

Its too far away for me to hold
Its too far away...

Guess Ill let it go
Sweet peace come to me
Calm the chaos churning within
Sweet Jesus enwrap me
Enlighten my heart so dim

My soul seeks Thee
In breathless desperation it cries
Sweet Jesus enwrap me
As my body slowly dies...

Another one from Alanis: All I Really Want

Do I stress you out
My sweater is on backwards and inside out
And you say how appropriate
I dont want to dissect everything today
I dont mean to pick you apart you see
But I can't help it
There I go jumping before the gunshot has gone off
Slap me with a splintered ruler
And it would knock me to the floor if I wasnt there already
If only I could hunt the hunter

And all I really want is some patience
A way to calm the angry voice
And all I really want is deliverance

Do I wear you out
You must wonder why I'm relentless and all strung out
Im consumed by the chill of solitary
Im like Estella
I like to reel it in and spit it out
I'm frustrated by your apathy
And I am frightened by the corrupted ways of this land
If only I could meet the maker
And I'm fascinated by the spiritual man
I am humbled by his humble nature

What I wouldn't give to find a soulmate
Someone else to catch this drift
And what I wouldn't give to meet a kindred

Enough about me, lets talk about you for a minute
Enough about you, lets talk about life for a while
The conflicts, the craziness and the sound of pretenses
Falling all around... all around

Why are you so petrified of silence
Here can you handle this?
Did you think about your bills, your ex, your deadlines
Or when you think you're gonna die
Or did you long for the next distraction
And all I need now is intellectual intercourse
A soul to dig the hole much deeper
And I have no cencept of time other than it is flying
If only I could kill the killer

All I really want is some peace man
A place to find a common ground
And all I really want is a wavelength
All I really want is some comfort
A way to get my hands untied
And all I really want is some justice
Sweet peace come to me
Calm the chaos churning within
Sweet Jesus enwrap me
Enlighten my heart so dim

My soul seeks Thee
In breathless desperation it cries
Sweet Jesus enwrap me
As my body slowly dies...

In The Land Of Grey And Pink

Post by Krazy Kat »

WINTER WINE are you always flowing blowing in my mind
Like a stream it's magic waters move to a dream
I'm travling with you drifting carefree
Dropping downward through fresh grasses
Bubbles merrily as it passes
Never knowing where you're going
Carry me with you Carry me with you
Carry me with you Carry me with you

Be conjured up in a midnight dream
Ancient castles dark
As wandering minstrels play
Tunes of yesterday
When dragons roamed the land
Knights in armour clothed
Charged on horseback bold
The maids were saved the dragon slayed

Sail the sea, sea green
Sailing forward to a new land
Treasure waits paradise gates
For the taking don't start waking
All you need but take heed
Remember it pays to pay the sandman well
Make no fuss for you must in stardust
Cos he puts all the colours in your dream

Bells chime three times
Naked dancers enter slowly
Smokey room scented gloom
Audience eating fat men drinking
Candles burn dull red light
Illuminates the breasts of four young girls
Dancing prancing provoking
These dreams are always ending far too soon

Life's too short to be sad
Wishing things that you'll never have
You're better off not dreaming of the things that come
Dreams are always ending far too soon

Sounds of a distant melody
Once played lost from memory
Funny how it's clearer now you're close to me
We'll be together all the time

Sail the sea, sea green
Sailing forward to a new land
Treasure waits paradise gates
For the taking don't start waking
All you need but take heed
Remember it pays to pay the sandman well
For you must in stardust
Cos he puts all the colours in your dream

Annie Lennox: Why?

How many times do I have to try to tell you
That I'm sorry for the things I've done
But when I start to try to tell you
That's when you have to tell me
Hey, this kind of trouble's only just begun
I tell myself too many times
Why don't you ever learn to keep your big mouth shut
That's why it hurts so bad to hear the words
That keep on falling from your mouth
Falling from your mouth
Falling from your mouth
Tell me...
Why
Why
I may be mad
I may be blind
I may be viciously unkind
But I can still read what you're thinking
And I've heard it said too many times
That you'd be better off
Besides...
Why can't you see this boat is sinking
Let's go down to the water's edge
And we can cast away those doubts
Some things are better left unsaid
But they still turn me inside out
Turning inside out turning inside out
Tell me...
Why
Tell me...
Why
This is the book I never read
These are the words I never said
This is the path I'll never tread
These are the dreams I'll dream instead
This is the joy that's seldom spread
These are the tears...
The tears we shed
This is the fear
This is the dread
These are the contents of my head
And these are the years that we have spent
And this is what they represent
And this is how I feel
Do you know how I feel?
'Cause I don't think you know how I feel
I don't think you know what I feel
I don't think you know what I feel
You don't know what I feel
Sweet peace come to me
Calm the chaos churning within
Sweet Jesus enwrap me
Enlighten my heart so dim

My soul seeks Thee
In breathless desperation it cries
Sweet Jesus enwrap me
As my body slowly dies...

Spend all your time waiting
for that second chance
for a break that would make it okay
there's always some reason
to feel not good enough
and it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
oh a beautiful release
memory seeps from my veins
let me be empty
oh and weightless and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight

In the arms of the angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here

So tired of the straight line
and everywhere you turn
there's vultures and thieves at your back
the storm keeps on twisting
you keep on building the lies
that you make up for all that you lack
it don't make no difference
escaping one last time
it's easier to believe
in this sweet madness oh
this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees

In the arms of the angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here
